One thing that bothers me - RW anti-gay loons are all "closeted" |
|
I am sure that there are some closeted bigots, but constantly accusing one's enemies of being homosexual seems to me to be a way to further demonize gay folks.
There are examples of closeted RW politicians - that creepy mayor out west is an example. However, I really doubt that Pat Robertson is secretly gay - he is just an asshole. I have seen many examples around here calling repubs closeted because the posters seem to detect stereotypical "gay' qualities to them, like a preference for nice clothes. It just perpetuates sterotypes and it is wrong.
Peace.

2. But how can you tell that Rethug X is closeted? |
|
The outed people, fine, they are hypocrites. But calling someone gay because you think it is an insult is wrong.

3. I give my son crap about using "gay" as an epithtet. |
|
His aunt is gay. On the other hand, the louder a rethug yells about the gay agenda, odds are pretty good there's a self-hating deeply closeted one.

11. well you listen to the best evidence available |
|
Sometimes there isn't as much evidence as you would like. But when Glorious Leader X spends an unusual amount of time with a boyhood friend over the decades and then retires him to an Ambassadorship in Poland around the time a gay male prostitute starts making regular visits to his home...you can do the math.
No one would care if he wasn't such a hypocrite about it. Even his wife just cracks jokes about "milking the stallion," she knows her position as consort is a ceremonial one.
It's the hypocrisy that disgusts.
The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists and other subversives. We intend to clean them out, even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country. --John Mitchell, US Attorney General 1969-72

5. i have decided these people isnt about being a closeted gay |
|
i think it is the perversion they have created toward sex cause of their unhealthy view of sex and it is in all forms. wrote a post on it this morning. i would like for us to think about taking it as far from gay as we can, cause i dont think that is what is up with these people

If there Anti-Gay vitriol is serious, but seems to be self moderated to a degree then they are probably gay. They are confused but not self-hating, they know that if they seem too Anti-gay, then it will backfire.

7. This brings to mind one particular poster |
|
at another site I frequent...ultra-right Neocon, who constantly rails against the "gay agenda", yadda, yadda, yadda. He lists his age as 45, and I recall a post sometime back where he stated that he is not now, nor has he ever been married, and he's not even involved with a woman at the present time, using the excuse that all women today were essentially man-hating, Hillary Rodham Clinton-programmed fembot "feminazis" who are clueless about what their role in society should be...

9. Gay/straight means nothing to powerful, powerful men |
|
I am not so sure about the gay accusation, either. I think that they have transcended gay/straight (which is what normal people are) and gone right to depraved pervert that will do anything/try anything just because they can and to see the look on the face of their victims.
Gay people are not pederasts, but more than a few powerful Republicans are. Gay men do not engage in beastiality (hamster urban legands aside), but depraved anti-gay Republicans have admitted to engaging in a little horsey sex from time to time. Gay is simply a wedge issue to these people...no more. They are too caught up in their own power to be hypocrites...they simply do not care about these issues as long as they can keep doing what they want, when they want, and by whatever means they want.
I think they bugger each other to keep the halls of power a closed society, but I don't think that their weird dalliances are limited to just that. White slavery, south asian bordellos, pedophile rings, S&M, beastiality....all perfectly legal to those that can afford it. Engaging in such acts is their own way of keeping up with the Joneses.
I subscribe to Clive Barker's hypothesis that wealth creates boredom, and that kind of boredom is dangerous because is cannot be satisfied by mundane means.

How do you come up with the concept that homosexuality "threatens" heterosexual relationships, unless you are gay and clenching every muscle in your body to stay in a "Christian marriage"?
How do you come up with the concept that homosexuality is a "choice," unless you are gay and have "chosen not to be"?
You can't really make sense of the whole anti-gay movement by any other logic. Or can you?

I think these people are studied-up well enough to know what their constituency thinks. They are also marketing-savvy enough to know exactly what to say. Sure, there are closeted gays as the opening thesis of this thread indicates, but there is much, much more that even we on the left do not want to consider.
I, of course, appreciate your logic in your argument. It is sound. However, there is plenty of evidence to indicate my hypothesis, as well.
As an example, Neil Bush, Jeb Bush, and Tom Delay all have connections to underage sexual slavery in south Asia. This is well-documented, although not very widely reported (no surprise there).
These are sick people.

I'm more interested in what motivates the rank and file than the leaders. I think my questions apply to the regular church members etc. who are all too eager to jump on the gay-bashing bandwagon.
As far as leaders go, there have been gay sex scandals in every Republican admin since Eisenhower's. I think it's one way they maintain party discipline (gay sex pix on file).
And yes, depravity is the rule and not the exception among the highest class in society.
