Out chasing political or weather stories?

I'm really disappointed by any DUer who is a journalist who doesn't make the casualties the top story.

Does your candidate want to get our soldiers out now or not? That should be the only question right now.

Bring em home.

7. The 8 is still unconfirmed....
... CENTCOM says 2 wounded. They very well might have to update their side of the story.

The 3 killed in Tikrit has been confirmed by CENTCOM.

The fog of war... :-(

And Ripley, I have been absolutely sickened by the media running around chasing some rain and wind today. I mean, not to diminish what our DU friends in the path are going through, but it's not even really a big bad mean hurricane. Hell, CNN showed a photo of a bunch of guys swigging beers on the beach an hour ago...

The point being, I'll bet Isabel didn't kill 12 Americans today.

:-(

16. Thanks Jen. Even tho my folks were on the coast...
My parents live on the intracoastal waterway across from Topsail Island. But they moved inland to stay with relatives yesterday and are ok.

However....you're right...the media is only hoping for a good destruction story to cover to up their ratings..sick.

36. They can talk about dead and dying soldiers anytime.
Especially since they are getting killed everyday. But the hurricane that shut down Washington will only be around for a couple of days.

Pukes. No sense of priorities. Tomorrow we will probably hear about the eight; the three was for today. Gotta spread them out so it's less shocking.

Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 09:56 PM by WorstPresidentEver
The "8" started off as at least three. Then there were some reports from Arab media outlets that said it was 8 dead not 3. CNN is now reporting that the initial report of 3 was in fact correct.

So its 3 dead, not 8 or 11 or even 12. Obviously that's still 3 too many...

And I was disgusted to the core today with all of the gratuitous hurricane "coverage". Nic Robertson was in the area of the attacked convoy and yet we got some chirpy little pettite bubble head in a cute raincoat who was probably more worried about her flat hair.

Not kidding. I don't believe in it, but it happens.

Edit to clarify my "telepathy": I called my aunt's house in Goldsboro today to see if my parents had migrated there ok. I called and my mother picked up the phone at the exact time I called (phone did not ring in aunt's house) while she was going to call me.

Wooooooooooooooooooh.

21. Here's some links for 8 of them--from Atrios
http://atrios.blogspot.com/

"It's hard to tell what's going on. This BBC report from earlier says at least 3 soldiers dead in an incident in Khaldiyah, though the military hasn't yet commented on this situation. They are however stating that 3 soldiers have died in what seems to be a separate incident in Tikrit. We also have another soldier falling victim to a "non-hostile gunshot incident," and another killed by a power line. There are also several reports of soldiers being wounded."

3 in Khaldiyah & 3 in Tikrit
2 "non-hostile" deaths

29. You're right it should not be ignored.
But neither should the possible 12 deaths of soldiers be ignored...completely.

Point being CNN seems to drop all other stories when covering a big "local" story...same as "local sports star rape case story" took over recently...then they never seem to get back to the national news that Bushistas are liars and thieves.

Coverage is one thing, cover is another.
