Reminds me of Maron's satirical alter-ego "Marc the Shark" on radio Halliburton.

2. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I think he was substituted at the |
|
very last minute. He was saying they were going to run a "Best of Springer", but since Springer's been on AAR for such a short time, and things have been moving so fast, they called him in on extremely short notice.

Cleveland Radio's John Lanigan Arrested For Drunken Driving Dateline: 11/23/03
The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting today that longtime Cleveland Radio host, John Lanigan, was ARRESTED for drunk driving early Saturday morning.
Lanigan, one of the co-hosts on WMJI-FM, an oldies station, was taken into custody after being involved in a minor automobile accident and then refusing to take a breathalyzer test.
Lanigan was later released on personal bond.
The "Lanigan and Malone" morning show has consistently been a highly-rated show in the Cleveland area.
WMJI-FM, also known as Magic 105.7, plays music from the '60s and '70s.
Lanigan, who is 61, has been called the "Dean of Cleveland Radio" according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
I think he should stick to oldies.

and, when Howard Stern did his show live from Cleveland, JL was represented by the "Cyclops".
Didn't listen to him much - in 85, I came out to Cleveland from Pittsburgh. Heard that 100.7 (WMMS) was voted "the best station in the nation". In a prescient attempt to court the fascisti, it was found out that WMMS had stuffed the ballot boxes; the magazine with the poll dropped that category later.
After listening for a while, I found that MMS sucked royally. (I gave up in 1986 when a U2 song was intro'd as "a classic" - 198-f*cking-6!) Decided to stray over to "classic" 105.7. Halfway listenable, but stuck in the 50s and early 60s.
Then WNCX came on. Hadn't looked back since. 'Course, that was the launching point of Triv (WTAM-1100 current afternoon Bush fellator.). Morning was taken over by Stern.
When Stern climbed to the top of the ratings in Cleveland, he came out for a funeral. In yet another application submitted for Clear Channel employment, the MMS "Buzzard morning crew" sent a technician out to cut the wires to NCX's broadcast feed. A FEDERAL OFFENSE. Judge gave the techie & WMMS a slap on the wrist. (Same judge not long ago was found to be making another ruling which went against the rule of the law - can't remember it of late, but was another judicial activist WTF).

9. Thx, I figured as much. |

The "liberal" calls he took were from inarticulate, unhinged-sounding people.
When they took a RW caller, this John guy basically agreed with whatever they said.
He quoted a totally bogus statistic that it is more likely to die from firearm fire in DC than in Iraq (DC resident vs. Iraq-deployed US serviceman). I looked up the raw numbers and did my own calculation and it's about 25x more likely in Iraq, BTW.

10. You notice that they don't throw around that statistic anymore about |
|
how California had X number of murders, etc compared to Iraq?
When they pointed that out, I always wanted to call in and say "Yeah, but you're not comparing the picture right. If it were X number of COPS, as our forces are, then the outrage would be tremendous."
