Perish the thought!

Hell... the though of putting his ugly mug on a $10 bill is pretty disgusting too. I'd REFUSE to accept one as change. Give me two-fives please... or ten ones... or a roll of quarters!

5. He'll die in August...
...and they'll claim he died the Saturday before Election Day.

JUST LIKE he supposedly was diagnosed the saturday before the 1994 elections! He was getting bashed big time, and then the Dems had to shut up!

6. Only if it's after Labor Day
The same people who lectured us about the "correct" way to mourn when Paul Wellstone died (and these are people who are not in the least bit sorry Wellstone is dead) will try to get everything they can out of it politically. When Reagan dies they will have a memorial service that makes the Wellstone memorial look like an evening at a Detroit Tigers game. And yes, there will be exhortations from speaker after speaker to "win one last one for the Gipper" by "re-electing 'President' Bush". Still, this can really only be done with effect if Reagan dies after Labor Day, in the heat of the campaign. Otherwise, I don't see it mattering much.

26. Ah, but what would Ron, Jr. say about that.
He's made it clear he has no use for Bush*. In fact, none of the Reagans do.

He's in the freezer, next to Walt & Ted. They'll trot him out in the summer of '04--mark my words.

I really wouldn't put it past them. How does one go about finding out where Reagan is and what kind of shape he's in?

9. no, doesn't matter, Reagans don't campaign for Bush
His brain is dead already and has been a long time. Nancy Reagan and Ron Reagan and I believe Patti Davis as well very much dislike the Bushes. It might even free them to come forward more openly with their thoughts.

12. This very much matches those things I've read and heard.
I say no.

Reagans have no love lost for the Bushistas. And I recall a recent interview with Nancy where she barely concealed a sneer at the name of Geedub.

I'm betting any impact of the demise of Ronnie would be more likely detrimentalto than supporting of Bush.

22. Maybe Nancy finally put 2 + 2 together
...and realized that it was no coincidence that Hinkley, the guy who shot Ronnie was from a family who were close friends of the Bush Criminal Empire.

Just like the Bin Ladens are.......

Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 05:24 PM by LynneSin
Before I'd take any bill with that ugly mug on.

Of course if I got stuck with a $10 Reagan bill I'd make it a point to write something on it - like "Reagan's Foreign Policies help build up Saddam Hussien's Army"

15. Reagan ain't gonna die...
only the good die young.

That's why Strom Thurmond lived to be 100 and JFK, MLK and Paul Wellstone died young.

17. Do you seriously think
the typical voter really gives a shit about whether Ronnie Reagan is alive or dead? He stopped being president fourteen years ago now, which means anyone under the age of twenty-five can barely remember his time in office. And something like 50 million people became eligible to vote in that length of time. So no, his death and funeral will have no bearing whatsoever on the election.

And as for the notion, that I've seen expressed ad nauseum here, that he's already dead and being held on ice, get real. Neither Nancy nor any of his doctors would go along with such nonsense.

He's 92, in the throes of alzheimer's, may die tomorrow, may live another ten years. He was the second worst president we've ever had (second only to W) and will be completely unmourned by me.
