KUCINICH
does anyone know where name "kucinich" comes from ? i'm guessing somewhere in eastern europe. but does anyone know? i thought of this after the "kerry's jewish roots" post which i have no idea why it started. i'm hoping it's just because the person was interested in history rather than thinking it's a problem. i know there were some complaints about his name being "ethnic" and he also makes fun of it at times. but personally i like the name.

1. My guess
Balkan. I'm thinking he had Serbo-Croat ancestors and that his name got mangled by the boys at Ellis Island. Happens all the time.

2. I agree with you....Clark's too....
There is too much to talk about with all the candidates than to get into all of that. I do not care for General Clark, but I would rather DU discuss things that matter. That Clark was born "Wesley Kanne" and had a Jewish father and later had a stepfather named Clark that adopted him, I mean really! WHAT difference does that make? The RECORD of Clark's is fair game though and especially when so many supporting him know so little about him. Same with Kerry - we should stick to what matters. Good post, and I agree, "Kucinch" is a good name!

4. Kucinich
His father was Croatian (the name would have originally been "Kucinic") and his mother was Irish.

Thank you - it's so nice to be here! We don't have a forum like this in Australia, so I thought I'd put my head in here from time to time. It's great!
