Does Anyone Get It? They want us squabbling with each other!!!! |
|
What a perfect distraction, "let's git 'em barkin' at each other, so they'll take a pause at barkin' at me." Forget about Cheney Issue?! Forget about OUR fight to get these criminals out of office?! Focus on the on-line petition by Moveon for the firng of Rumsfeld et al,to be attached as a condition of the 87 bil.

support your candidate, don't put down others...
and for cyring out loud... remember to keep yer eyes on that price (WH in 2004) If we do not, we will have nobody to blame but ourselves, just like the Socialists and the communists in 1936

I'm so disgusted, this is only my second post in the past three hours. I've just started avoiding the obvious posts. Is there anything we can do to stop this? They're so divisive and the constant abrasiveness is using energy that should be directed toward the junta. Things are breaking and all we're doing is arguing.

Relax, this is a healthy process, an exchange of ideas to see what game face we put on in 2004. You would have been begging for such a debate a few months ago when all you heard was 911, saddam hussein, 911, saddam hussein, 911, 911, 911, 911!
We are going to fight and win this to save OUR country. Florida, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Ohio are all within reach. Hell, Texas and South Carolina are showing signs of a democratic progression.
Don;t get your panties in a bunch just yet. Just fight like hell from now until election day and expecially on election day. They might have roadblocks out.

5. Big damn deal; the jokes on them |

We're honing our message, learning our strengths and weaknesses, defining our stances and getting our juices flowing. I seriously doubt very many are going to leave in a huff once the standard-bearer's chosen, and I'll bet the planks will be well distributed to keep everyone enthused.
Seriously, they can laugh all they want. It may even lull them into complascency.
This is what makes this party work, and hopefully with this early vigor, we'll still be able to accomplish the proper ordeal that is a primary season even with it being so top loaded.

But I'm always amused at posts like this, and similar ones asking "what are WE going to do about such and such," as if WE here at DU mattered a hill o'beans.
The discussions here have little to no impact on the party, Congress, the wider world, or Rove's little kingdom. Not even many MINDS are changed here, among us folks.
The bickering and barkin' you're so concerned about is nothing, a lot of sound and fury signifying NOTHING.
We are at our best, it's true, when we actually engage in activism, but that's not that often, frankly. We are also at our best when we do research, and that's fallen off dramatically along with most of the other truly thoughtful posts that used to go on here. To that end, all the bickering takes a toll, but NOT for the reasons you've imagined and feared.
Hell, we don't even have that much impact on the people in our own personal sphere of influence, let alone the universe of Democrats or likely voters.
It's a non-issue, really.

10. Well, I really disagree with you Eloriel |

If I didn't think we made a difference, I would never come to this forum. Even if we aren't noticed by the party, and I don't believe this, we give strength to each other. Because of this and the information I amass on a daily basis, I am able to discuss issues knowledgeably with more people than I ever have. I have made a surprising amount of converts considering my limitations. I am a very cynical person, but this forum does keep me keeping on. That makes this a very important place to be, thank you very much! BTW, I still see very good posts. I haven't noticed a decrease in quality since I've been here. OMG, I can't remember when I first started. Oh, well. I do hate the arguing, though.

11. Eloriel, you couldn't be more correct here. |

The amazing thing about DU is that it brings liberals and progressive together, and living here in the conservative bastion that is southwestern Ohio, it's been a blessing to me. A curse lately, because the discourse can be so vitriolic, but a blessing nonetheless.
Everyone around me wants to wave their flags and talk about Bennifer and Kobe. I come here to talk about politics, and love it or hate it, I get exactly what I asked for. We all do.
