Giving credit where credit is due -- Wesley Clark's "100 Year Vision"
First, let me make crystal clear that I am NOT a supporter/follower of any of the 10 Democratic candidates. I'm not really an "ABB" person; rather, I am more of a "ABCD" (Anyone But a Capitalist Drone) person.

Regardless, I must say that I was impressed by Wesley Clark's "100 Year Vision" statement on his website. That kind of philosophical vision is often lacking in these kind of campaigns, and I am personally very glad that he injected it into this one. I sincerely hope it inspires the other nine candidates to develop similar statements on where they see the U.S. going in the next century.

I juat wanted to offer this little observation. I now return you to your regularly scheduled flamewar.

Martin

16. Which part of the DRAFT movement didn't you get?
I am sick and tired of being ignored by both the media and DU-ers. It was fellow activists that picked him - get used to the idea.

5. It's Friday morning & my brain isn't working. Where is Clarks site?
I search for it and all I seem to get is "Draft" sites.

Does he have an actual, not "Draft", Wesley Clark for President 2004 site yet?

8. It sounds nice I suppose.
One segment jumped out at me:

"We can never ensure that every one has the same education, or health care, or retirement security, nor would we want to do so. But all Americans are better off when we ensure that each American will have fundamental educational skills and access to further educational development throughout their lives; that each American will have access to the diagnostic, preventive and acute health care and medicines needed for productive life, as well as some basic level of financial security in his or her retirement."

What does this really mean?

"or health care"? Is this an anti-Universal HC statement or an entre into a basic National HC level with supplemental policies making the differences in care? What's this mean?

"that each American will have access to the diagnostic, preventive and acute health care and medicines needed for productive life"

"Each American"? That's 100%. Sounds like Universal HC?

He's had plenty of time to formulate plans, I'd like to hear them.

20. I think that needs to be clarified a bit myself
I think, from what I have read and seen of him before that he means that health care and education needs are different for each individual. Not every kid in the class can be a nuclear physicist and not peoples healthcare needs change throughout their lives and according to their circumstances. Therefore, the kid who gets B's and C's on his test even when he tries very hard will have different educational needs than the kid who makes his calculus teacher look like a blithering idiot. The cancer patient and the elderly grandmother will have different healthcare needs from the healthy male in his early 20's. The idea is to make sure that every person has the healthcare and education they need to lead a productive life.

9. Does "100 year Vision"
Really sound so different from "Project for the New American Century?"

Or for that matter, the "Thousand Year Reich?"

10. Could be
I tend to think it probably is. The point I was trying to make, though, is that he is actually injecting the philosophical element into this campaign -- i.e., it's not just about the next few years. That, I think, is a healthy thing. It will give the other candidates an opportunity, and a challenge, to present their own long-term vision for this country.

Hell, US corporations can't send our jobs to communist countries fast enough. Do you think if we elected a Communist they would bring the jobs back?

It took a Socialist to make an objective comment about a Democratic candidate. Go figure.

25. And you get smeared by a Clarkie after complementing him!
Clark really needs to be alerted about the asinine antics of many of his groupies.

They do nothing but hurt his chances.

26. Par for the course
I've been here too long to let it bother me anymore. I expect it. If it wasn't for the fact that I don't want to get banned, I'd cut a real wide swath through all their illusions.

Oh well. Back to Mospeada.
