Official Norm Coleman Bashing Thread
news of the Teeth from Brooklyn visiting Castroland has got many of us MinneDUers who know and loathe our freshman womanizer, er I mean Senator, frothing at the mouth over in LBN. I say we keep a thread open for no purpose other than giving Mr. 99% Improvement as much rhetorical bile as we all apparently have stored up for the fella.

Fire away!

2. BEST. . .THREAD. . .EVER
I called his office one day, foaming at the mouth with rabid hatred. But I was reasonable, and I had a serious issue. A couple of months later, he finally deigned to respond to me. I never opened the letter, I figured whatever he had to say would just make me madder.

4. Senator Dayton extremely cool on constituent issues
I hope you tried Sen. Dayton's office as well, the guy really does want to go to bat for Minnesotans - even those of us not in the top income bracket (shocking, ain't it?). The man's an awful public speaker, but he's got a heart of gold.

Stay fired up for (arrghh!) 2008, that's when we get to settle the score with The Teeth From Brooklyn.

11. Mark is cool
I called Senatory Smarmy's office because he said on Fox News that nobody cared whether WMD were ever found and the Democrats were only using it as a political issue. I was absolutely livid. So I called his office and reminded them that THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE DIED because of these WMD that nobody cares about. And then I called Mark's office to thank him for doing a great job for Minnesota. :)

15. Mark ROCKS!
I first got to know about Mark Dayton in during his first Senate campaign in the 80s. Later on I heard about his awesome party he hosted at the state DFL convention in 1986. I met him a couple of times in 1987 & 1988 when he supported Dukakis and I was a campus organizer.

I'm so glad we have him in the Senate to counterbalance the overwhelming weaseltude of "The Teeth from Brooklyn" (LOL!). I'd like to see Mark go further (VP or Prez?), but I don't think that's what he wants....he's also kind of nervous when speaking to really big crowds, but then again who wouldn't be?

Now, if we can find a candidate to get rid of Normie and attempt to fill the huge shoes of Wellstone in 1996...

No way I can fill Wellstone's shoes but if Minnesotans have any sense at all, even I should be able to beat Normie in 2008. I'll be over 30 by then (that is the Constitutional age requirement for the Senate, right?).

30 is the age. If you're a progressive, I'm definately in (need any tech/web skills? :) ). Even if you're more liberal than Joe Liebermann, I'll still help out.

Here's to 2006(?!) :toast:

A couple of months ago, a DNC guy called me for a donation. I got to ranting about the voting and stolen elections, and I said: and how about Norman Fucking Coleman? The DNC guy laughed and said that would look good on a T-Shirt.

Anyway, what's he going to do in Cuba? Bribe Castro to do something that will make it worth his while?

He came through my workplace back when he was running against Skip and Jesse, for a photo op and to glad-hand us working stiffs. While not mandatory, attendance was STRONGLY ENCOURAGED.

Just the same, I was the only employee not to attend. Later my boss asked me where I was. I said I was doing my part to ensure Normy had a pleasant, event-free visit - because I won't shake hands with a turncoat.

9. Yay!!!!
Finally a thread where all DUers in MN (and elsewhere) can agree on something-- NORM COLEMAN IS A TWIT!

However, I must cede a teensy bit of credit his way: he has fought against the RIAA and its extreme measures regarding file sharing. For that I must give him one thumb partially up.

Hell, even Franco made the trains run on time.

17. Norm is all about Norm
he knows that fighting the RIAA is a pretty painless way to do something that young people will support.

The thing to remember is that Norm's only true political ideology is Norm Coleman. He would've cheerfully run as the Socialist Worker's candidate if he thought that's what would get him elected. He's not a conservative ideologue, he's an opportunist licking the boots of conservative ideologues in order to get the almight power that he'll never have enough of.

10. I started Hating Him Long Before It Was Fashionable
Point One: In college he was a long hair hippy democrat type. In my opinion poeple, by that age have already established their personal identity that will follow them through the rest of their lives, and usually do not change unless there is either some life altering experience, or as in Norm's case, figure out they can get what they want by changing sides. I call it the Kenny Rodgers syndrome. Remeber Kenny started out as a rock & roll singer (rember the song "I Just Dropped In (to see what condition my condition was in))? But you can't make any money in R&R when you are a fat redneck baritone with a beard, so he switched to country. So to me, Norm's switch from hippy to Republican makes him a phoney (I have nothing against hippies, I was one in the seventies).
Point Two: Although this is hearsay, I know someone who employed someone who was banging Norm. 'nuff said.

BTW I loved the spanking Garrison gave him in the paper several months ago.

There's going to be lots of progressives in Mpls in October for the Cry Justice! convention that's occuring in conjunction with the national meeting of the National Lawyers Guild (kinda like the progressive version of the ABA) - maybe us MinneDUers can meet in conjunction with some of that.

BTW, I got bunch of sheet metal workers from rural MN to go to Greek to Me a while ago - they loved it!

Coleman makes my blood boil. I never curse, but since selection 2000 and the usurping of Wellstone's Senate seat, I have been Effenheimering ALL THE TIME.
As a result, I started a Bush/Coleman swear jar. Every time I curse, I toss money into the jar and will give it to whomever the Democratic nominee is. Boy, at the rate I'm going, I will drench the coffers. ;-)

I hardly know where to begin.

Given the events of the last few days, (Kennedy's comments in particular) I wonder if the smary little creep is starting sweat about having tied himself so tightly to Bush* or if he's in denial. Even if it reaches the point where he wants to jump ship, will he have the nerve? Norm knows what can happen to those who cross Bushco.

Whatever happens, it is up to us to let no one in Minnesota forget that Norm has been nothing but a stooge for this outfit.

March 24, 2002

Senator Coleman,

Well, with regard to the United States' illegal and immoral aggression in Iraq, the water seems to be over the dam, the horse out of the barn, and the cat out of the bag. We are stuck there until we "win" the war.

So now my request is that the Senate get out of their money-driven power mode and rebuild Iraq like our country's livelihood depended on. Greed, graft and corruption, and even any perception of greed, graft or corruption, must be minimized. I realize this will be difficult - given all the greed, graft, corruption in US corporations (e.g. Enron, Adelphia, Tyco, Arthur Anderson, etc.) - and in US politics (i.e., money for favors, e.g., please consider how much money you have accepted from the drug industry, and if this is affecting your consideration of adding prescription drug coverage to Medicare, which is a sure budget-buster, but a huge boon to the drug companies).

If the business of rebuilding Iraq ends up looking anything like business in the U.S., we will lose our last chance to recover our sorely damaged reputation in the eyes of the world.

Regards,

30. Hey dude
Duluth, huh? VERY cool city, and lots of good liberals/progressives on the city council (I am friendly with one of them). Oh, and although it may seem kinda redneck at times, it's still pretty liberal. Even though Mayor Doty(sp?) still won't let the gays march in the parade :).

Our voting machines in MN are optical-scan machines. Everybody uses a hand-marked ballot where you darken a cirlce next to your candidate. The ballots are then fed into the machine, and a scanner reads the results. They're actually quite fool-proof, with the honesty of a hand-marked ballot and the efficiency of a machine.

The reason we got Pawlenty can be boiled down to two people: ex-Governor Jesse "I ain't got time to govern" Ventura, and Tim Penny, the ex-Democratic Congressman and Independence Party candidate.

The governor race was basically a 3-way race, with Pawlenty and DFLer Roger Moe getting most of the votes, with Tim Penny getting ± 25%. Since Pawlenty won the plurality of the votes, he became governor. The same thing happened in 1998 when Jesse Ventura won with a plurality too (only 37%!!!).

This is yet another reason why we need Instant Runoff Voting (IRV), but I won't get into that right now. ;)

BTW going back a couple of years, originally Coleman was supposed to run for Governor, and Pawlenty for the Senate against Wellstone. Pawlenty even announced for the Senate at one point. However, a call from Dick Cheney at the White House to both Coleman and Pawlenty made them "switch races" if you will, because BushCo thought Norm had a better chance of beating Wellstone than Timmy did.

There's plenty more where that came from, too, if I ever get a chance to write it down... :D

33. Ooh, let me at the smarmy little schmuck!
Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 03:38 PM by Lydia Leftcoast
He earned my everlasting disdain when he showed his gracelessness and complete lack of class by gloating over his new position as Bush's Poodle, Minnesota version.

That interview in which he gleefully spoke of "God pulling the camel through the needle's eye" and practically giggling that he was able to sit at Benjamin Franklin's desk was the first thing that raised my preacher's kid hackles. First, it's a misunderstanding of the original Bible verse, which actually refers to the difficulty of a rich person entering the kingdom of heaven. (So here's my advice, Normie: quote it at your patron, Mr. Bushboy.) Second, he was effectively saying that God killed eight fine human beings just so his sorry ass could sit at Benjamin Franklin's desk.

If the fundies actually knew something about their faith and thought through the implications, well, they wouldn't be fundies, but more importantly, they would repudiate that Bible-misquoting twerp.

Then, with all the office space available in St. Paul, he has to go and rent Wellstone's old office, as if to say to the DFL "Nya-nya-nya-nya-nya."

Shall I mention his utter cluelessness? He wants to be adored as Wellstone was adored, and it will be the well-deserved tragedy of his life that he will long desperately and in vain for that kind of adoration. But he will never understand why so many people loathe him.

So boohoo to you, Normie. You can brag and swagger and buddy up to Bushboy all you want, but at the end of your road, your memorial service will not draw overflow crowds to Williams Arena.

(Gee, this has been satisfying.)

41. Turd Norm said he was "a 99% improvement over Paul Wellstone."
Norm Coleman is the WORST! The only thing worse than his arrogance, is the damage he's doing to our country through his ignorance. What a small, dim person.

Sen. Norm Coleman Proud of Self

Minnesota Senator, Norm Coleman, who replaced Sen. Paul Wellstone after his tragic death, seems to think pretty highly of himself. In the Congressional Mag, Roll Call (subscription required), Coleman is quoted as saying,

"To be very blunt and God watch over Paul's soul, I am a 99 percent improvement over Paul Wellstone. Just about on every issue."

The San Francisco Chronicle writes about the incident, adding,

After the Roll Call story appeared Monday, Rep. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., called for Coleman to apologize, saying his remarks were inappropriate, disrespectful and "an unnecessary attack on a leader our state continues to mourn."

Wellstone's former spokesman, Jim Farrell, called Coleman's comment a "shameful, self-serving assertion."

keep on letting people know that there are some choice words that they can read about mr. Slime (lower case on purpose - he doesn't deserve a capital) - reference or quote -

Garrison Keillor's article
and
his own words

He is a puppet of Bush, Bush is a puppet of the cabal.

The cabal claims they are the moral leaders of this country.

Cable media is owned by the cabal.

Ask the moral cable media to investigate Coleman and give it to us 24/7 just as they have for other personages.

Keep asking how he became the Minnesota Senator.

He is at the disposal of the cabal...watch him.
