Do you remember a term (I was there in 1970) for screwing up, "stepping on your dick"? When I first got there my platoon sgt. referred to the LT of another platoon as a "Flat-dicked MF'er" and I had to listen around a little to figure out what he meant. It's very apt when you think about it, implying a hapless clumsiness, not to imagine the self-inflicted pain with each step. Kind of applies to the folks who brought you "Operation F**Kup", none of whom, interestingly, would have any familiarity with the term I just mentioned due to the fact that NONE OF THEM WENT TO VN!!

Speaking of appropriate terms, my wife (who was born in 1965) and I were listening to CNN reporting on Iraq. She turned to me and said "This whole thing is just a big ratfuck, isn't it?" God, I don't think I've ever loved her more than I did at that moment.

My wife, I think I'll keep her.
