Very strange FR thread....
Check out the original post...

That story seems iffy. From what I was gathering, he said the explosion traveled down all the way through the building. Also, something about the Marriot being on fire and cars exploding, I wasn't quite catching on. Am I just misreading it? I did kinda skim...

1. I suspect that's a legitimate story
I know the area and I remember the lower mall corridor he was talking about. I used to browse for books in the Borders bookstore there.

coupled with lines like:

...the entire building was groaning, an unnatural, unearthly sound, much like a can squeezing, or cracking uncooked spaghetti.

It's my opinion that it was written by a wannabee. Just my opinion.

3. The explosions did travel down the buildings.
Burning jet fuel ignited on impact and flew down the elevator shaft. a lot of people died in the elevators.

As for cars exploding, it sounds plausible, if they were hit with flaming debries, I haven't heard any thing about it, but It could probably be verified.

4. If it was a wannabee
he did a really good job describing the inside of the WTC and providing details that matched what other people have provided.

I tend to be a sceptic, but this may be legit.

5. ....
Well what weirded me out is that it seemed so accurate except for those things. I didn't think the explosion traveled to the bottom floor via the stairs.

6. Back in the 60's there was a series of books aimed at younger readers
called either "You were There" or "I was There."

They would take historical events, place a young protagonist in the middle of the event, take a little dramatic license and voila! You had a fun to read history lesson. There's plenty of accessable material on 9-11 and all anyone would need to make a good "eyewitness" account would be the patience to do the research and the ability to inject emotion.

It's just a feeling, but the use of adjectives and cliched bits here and there makes me go for the fiction vote on this piece. The source is a RW blog with no way to confirm the identity of the writer and with as much effort as went into the piece, you would think that the writer would want to be recognized unless questions were not wanted or needed.

If this gets much play, I'll bet Snopes will weigh in on it before too long. But even Snopes makes mistakes so who really knows.
