Too Bad Paul Wellstone isn't around today, huh?
I'd prefer to have someone I could trust.

Damn those coincidental plane crashes!

The Bushes got really lucky, once again huh, Wellstone would have been the leader right now if he were still alive.

3. As much as I respected. liked and admired Paul Wellstone,
I always got the impression that the rest of the senate (dems included) "tolerated his antics".. He was the ONLY one really fighting for reforms that would actually help the common man.. The rest of the fatcats (both parties)seemed to let Paul say the things that the public needed to hear, but were uinwilling or afraid to say, themselves..

I always felt uneasy when the others talked about him.. To me it always seemd like they were condescending to him, and at the same time almost forced him to be the voice of the liberal side of the party.. They hid behind Paul, because they were afraid to endanger their political futures..

10. Kerry worked with him on public financing
of campaigns and on veterans issues, especially vet health legislation.(Did you notice how many vets were at the memorial service?) They also worked together on environmental issues.

They were working together on healthcare for the military when Paul was killed. Kerry finished it last February.

No way did JK keep his distance from Wellstone.

14. Working together is ONE thing,
I was referring to the fact that Paul was rarely supported IN PUBLIC, in any manner approaching enthusiasm..

He was ususlly the lone point man, and the others sttod aside "cluck-clucking" about he was "Just being Paul"..

I saw this many times..

15. You're right on this, unfortunately:
I don't think people knew how to handle true passion and it made the Dems uncomfortable...you just don't find such a mensch in politics!

9. You aint the only one

It was the death of Senator Wellstone that would make anyone question their faith.

I can think of no better man the Senate has seen in my lifetime. He was a true warrior and we shall never forget him.

For all of us who loved and admired this man...Never let his spirit die.

Even my wife (a Republican) thought he was a good man and very sincere. She told me upon watching all the news and clips of Paul, "He just doesn't seem like a politician."

I said..."No he wasn't a politician...he was a leader." RIP our friend.

6. If Wellstone were alive and had run
*he'd* be the one attracting the "McGovern II" comments from the DLC and the ever-so-reasonable centrists at DU.

11. *sigh*
So true. Though, I wish they'd had their chance to do it -- just knowing that cheery warrior was around took a lot of the edge off my despair.

8. It is because Paul Wellstone
could have been our leader, that he is no longer alive.
