I'm not up on how Christians react to things, but I think most Christians would just go out and buy another bible if theirs got flushed. Wouldn't flushing the koran be more like peeing on a US flag or something? It seems like in the US flags are treated more like the koran is treated in the islamic world.

You've got the right idea that fundamentalist Muslims revere the physical Qu'ran more than fundamentalist Christians revere the physical Bible. They may have a very similar attitude toward the words contained within their holy books, but the attitude toward the physical object is different.

The analogy I saw before was that flushing the Qu'ran is more like desecrating a Catholic communion wafer in that both are seen as the substance of a god rather than mere symbols of a god.

17. I attended a religious college (Methodist)

in the deep south, and took a few religion courses as a requirement for graduation.

The first day of class in Old Tesament (Rel 101) the professor threw his Bible up against the wall to make a point. The damn thing is a book, like any other book.
