Was Nancy Pelosi a babbling idiot on Real Time, or was it my imagination? |
|
Seriously, did anything she say make any sense?

3. I like what she had to say |
|
She has a point, we can't all up and leave Iraq now that we've destroyed it. But we can keep asking the questions about why we invaded in the first place and demand to know what the hell we're spending $87billion on it.
To be honest it was Tim Robbins who I was disappointed in. Here's a major player in the anti-war movement and Dana Carvey talked more (mainly about Arnold in CA) than he did.
What I thought was a joke was Christine Todd Whitman. Bush basically humiliated her when she was head of the EPA. Why the hell is SHE still defending him.
I'm proud to have someone like Nancy Pelosi as my leader. Why must we be critical of her especially when it comes to plastic surgery. I suppose if she never had any and she was old and wrinkled we'd be calling her a "Tired old bag" instead.

She speaks out. Only the petty would try to defame her for her looks. But that is what the GOP are...petty. Impeach Bush!

6. I was speaking of her opening answer...it rambled and rambled |
|
and said damn near nothing. I listened to the entire interview and heard 2 or 3 soundbites that I'd heard before (we can't pull out now...I wouldn't have been there in the first place) surrounded by a bunch of nonsensensical blabber. I was really disappointed in her performance.

as a tired old bag? You stop it. Nancy has been on the sidelines. So she's talking NOW? It's about F***ING TIME.
and this is just a FACT: she's got a PERMANENT LOOK OF SURPRISE GOING, and it is DISTRACTING. I don't CARE much for women - OR MEN - who don't know how to AGE GRACEFULLY.

Tim Robbins didn't speak a whole lot, but he got in some very good points. He looked the best of the three.
Dana Carvey is still rehashing old Arnold bits from SNL. All hamming for the camera. Looked like what he is - a has-been. Said very little of substance.
Heather Wilson (?) was so monotone and dull I can't remember what the hell she was talking about.
Maher got off a few zingers though. I actually liked Pelosi. She was pretty aggressive toward the Republicans. Whitman was talking out both sides of her mouth. Maybe she really beleives this stuff, aand Bush just blocked her ideas. Doubt it, though.

11. Didn't see the show, but I agree |

on the point about Iraq. We destroyed the country, and if we just leave it in a shambles, it is a certainty that fundamentalist extremists will overrun it. It will be a worse hell-hole that it is now. Like it or not, we will pay now or pay later for the destruction we caused.
That said, certainly the Bush* administration, and the members of Congress who voted for the war should be held responsible for what they did. There has to be accountability for the money, so that the people can know that the money is actually being spent to fix what we broke and not to break more stuff and kill more people. The people who perpetuated this fraud on the world should pay with their jobs, at the very least.

Junior misled, and it needs to be said.
As for Whitman, that was just pathetic. She's like a battered spouse who can't break free; I'd feel sorry for her if she wasn't such a water carrier for the king. She's been used, humiliated and flushed, so she licks the plunger that forces her down the toilet of her future. Someone should have called her on the claim that all these scientists couldn't agree; that's simply not true: on the main claim that global warming's happening, there is almost unanimity, even among the stacked deck of friendlies Junior's Mob assembled.
It was especially prescient to watch this after Moyers' "Now" where it was pointed out how the infamous Frank Luntz talking points memo counseled the monarchists to use the term "global climate change" instead of "global warming". She was an automaton in service of her king. How disgusting. She's a liar and a fool, and she's thrown away her career for people who have no respect for her. Amazing.

I think all the Dems are starting to speak up due to the campaign season getting started (Kennedy lashing out at Bush another instance).
The general populace doesn't really pay attention to this stuff until election season gears up. Sad, but true.
As for Nancy Pelosi's looks? Why this matters is beyond me, but....
I think she's very attractive for her age. :+

Caught that Michael Moore and Aaron MacGruder are going to be on. Forgot the third. Just the first two guests sound like it's going to be a great show.

Michael Moore, Aaron MacGruder and Charles Barkley is who I heard will be on next week's show.
For the record, I thought Pelosi did a fine job. She certainly garnered heavy applause. (Contrast with Terry McAuliff's lines which fell dead last week even with a pro-dem audience.)
And if you want to talk about looks...
Tim Robbins looks/sounds good no matter what, IMHO
Dana Carvey acted like the class clown who jokes around because he's unprepared. Does anyone else think he's had a face lift?
And what is with Heather Wilson's head? Man, did she looked like Mrs. Drysdale or what?
OK, now that "we're" past the superficial commentary...we can move on I guess. :)
Bill Maher did a fine job -- watch the repeat if you can.
