"He likes war. He should go fight in a war for two days."
Friday, W greeted members of the Army's Third Division and welcomed them back from Iraq at Fort Stewart, Ga. But while W is strutting his stuff, like a proud cock, he is screwing these men and women by trying to cut disabled veterns benefits. This goes hand and hand with making them pay for their meals while they are in the hospital. I guess W still hasn't stolen enough money to pay back his friends for letting him play president.

However, the following quote says it all.

Palm Beach Post

After the speech, Pvt. Kenneth Henry, 21, a Third Division radar operator with a field artillery unit, was quoted in the Los Angeles Times as saying of Mr. Bush:

"He likes war. He should go fight in a war for two days and see how he likes it."

Mr. Bush's military experience consists only of serving as a jet pilot with the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War. But his outfit never left Texas, and he since has been accused of going AWOL for a year to campaign for a political pal of his father's.

<snip>

Under the Bush plan, the Department of Veterans Affairs would disqualify about 1.5 million veterans, two-thirds of those now in the VA disability program.

<snip>

The Bush administration is trying to cheat the veterans while continuing to send today's troops back into action, all at the same time, thereby creating more casualties and new disabled veterans who can be denied benefits. And don't think the troops don't know.

1. damned right!
The whistle-ass, chickenhawk son of a bitch should spend a while wallowing in the filth, the seemingly unending boredom followed by bouts of unbelievable terror.

The fucker!

27. I bet he'll actually start getting a taste of that
"the seemingly unending boredom followed by bouts of unbelievable terror" - right there in the White House, once the pile-on reaches a crescendo. That's liable to become a pretty accurate description of his remaining months in Al Gore's house, before he's formally shown the door. One can hope, anyway. Visions of Nixon blubbering to the paintings...

28. It getting to the point
where there isn't even a military audience, that they can put W in front of to try to make him look 'popular'.

The good news is that in the court of public opinion, it is accepted as fact that when it was W's turn, he went AWOL. The freepers don't even try to deny that one anymore. This is W's fatal flaw. The lie that all other lies were built upon. Every man and woman coming back from the front lines now knows that W is nothing more than an empty flight suit.

3. As a veteran...
and, btw, as a human being, I can't begin to describe the absolute revulsion, disgust, and rage I feel toward this miserable piece of shit who sends kids into senseless battles and then lets them rot.

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE???!!!

4. Hurrah for Pvt. Henry!
Soldiers like him are starting to see through the hyprocratic bravado. Veterans are already very much aware how Bush is screwing them. One of Shrub's campaign promises was to reinstate health care benefits for "lifers" (soldiers who put in 20+ years). Not only did he not follow through on this, he's screwed the military more and more. In 2000, I saw an awful lot of "veterans for Bush" stickers. They have all disappeared. A Congressional Medal of Honor recipiant asked Bush to his face about his broken promises, and Shrub looked blank-probably didn't even remember he'd made them. The Stars and Stripes recounts tales of injured soldiers forced to pay for their hospital food; of discharged soldiers being made homeless; and the list goes on and on. Viet Nam Vets Against War is making a resurgance.

The new bumper sticker I've seen reads: If you didn't go, you don't know

is a very brave soldier. I am sure there are 1000's more that agree with him and I hope that there will be 1000's more who will be as willing to speak up about it.

6. I've stopped wondering...
just what depths Bush will sink to, in order to rob this country of everything that used to make it great. There are none. He starts a war, contrary to world opinion, screws up any chance for peace, and steals anything he can to hand over to his rich buddies.

He is nothing but a bully and a coward, who would never, never be able to do a real soldier's job. He sickens and disgusts me.

29. Actually, he did, according to the Houston Chronicle, January 2002.
But that wasn't a very good ref link I had there. Refound a better one:

A motherfighter? I had heard stories about the fatherfighter, something about a garbage can tantrum or something.

Bush had several other drunken incidents, as well. In December, 1972, Bush challenged his dad (the ex-president) to a fist fight, during an argument about Bush's drunk driving. He had taken his little brother out drinking, and ran over a neighbor's garbage cans on the way home. Bush's atypical public service job, working with inner city Houston kids, appears to have been an unofficial community service stint set up by Bush, Sr. Apparently the governor didn't learn his lesson, because his drunk driving conviction occured almost four years later.

25. My email to Mr. McEvoy at the Palm Beach Post:
Edited on Sat Sep-20-03 02:33 PM by calimary
His email's on the bottom of this commentary. Here's what I just sent him:

Dear Mr. McEvoy,

THANK YOU, HUGELY, for your insightful commentary, "Bush Goes AWOL When Soldiers Need Care."

Brilliant and blistering. It gives me encouragement that people around the country are finally starting to wake up. Ted Kennedy is correct - this war was a FRAUD. Which means our troops have died for the sake of a FRAUD. Our money's been squandered for the sake of a FRAUD. Our reputation around the world has been trashed because of a FRAUD. It all results from having a FRAUD in the White House.

It is MOST heartening to see the veil being lifted.

Keep up the good work, PLEASE, for the sake of our country!

Supportively yours,

XXXXXXXXXXXX

FOLKS, DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF DU, it is VITALLY important that we email writers like him for their courage to put these observations and ideas into print. Truth-tellers like him are what we need to turn the tide. You can bet he's probably taking heat for this from the freeper mentality out there. Writers like him need encouragement to keep going. Also, it's a type of encouragement they can turn around and take to their editors to verify that their opinions are valid, appreciated, and needed in greater numbers.

DEAR ONES: whenever you see anything like this, look for the writer's email address at the bottom, or near their byline, or whatever. It's usually included. Email them back. They appreciate it, believe me. The many responses I get prove this over and over and over. Often the response is personal and includes the wording "thanks for the encouragement." Believe me, if we think we're voices crying in the wilderness, THESE COLUMNISTS DO, TOO! We need to verify for them that they, just like us, are NOT ALONE in how they feel.

on edit - fixed typo in subject

DO IT!
