Let's hope it doesn't end up watered down.
on edit: The show should REALLY be about ALL the company ties to the Defense Policy Board that hawked this war and the contracts though...Bechtel and a few others with ties to DPB scored as well BIG TIME!

4. Email your Bush* supporting friends/family
At least this will be some info for them that they might otherwise not hear. Hopefully this will be the water cooler conversation topic for Monday morning.

3. 60 minutes (muy importante)
I hope 60 minutes pounds on the secret meetings Cheney had with Haliburton and others in March 2001, where Iraqi oil was a topic of discussion.

I also want to point out that 60 minutes' audience is more than 6 times the combined audience of CNN/HeadlineNews/Faux/MSNBC totalled together. If they nail Cheney good tomorrow, it will create a buzz. Should be around 18 million people tuned in.

6. In the old days, 60 Minutes would have ripped them a new asshole.....
....but now, I have to say I'm pessimistic that a network owned by a defense contractor is going to be tough on Cheney & Halliburton :evilfrown:

10. Couple of years too late.
Westinghouse sold CBS to Viacom in 2001. Now they're part of Sumner Redstone's empire.

11. I have to agree with you..
I have this sinking feeling, that they will "report" it and then arrive at the conclusion that Halliburton was the OBVIOUS choice and there was no favoritism.. That seems to be the accepted explanation.. "Time was of the essence, and Hallliburton was the ONLY company with the experience and the security clearance.. (and of course so was Bechtel, and Kellogg, Brown & Root)..

After the 60-minutes piece, the RW guys will all be able to say.."Well it WAS investigated by 60-minutes, and THEY thought everything was onn the up and up"...

It may just turn out to be a "cover piece" and move along..nothing to see here...

The only way the truth will come out is to devote HOURS to it, and report on the nuances.. Modern tv does NOT do nuance well, or at all :(

It could be the one aired in the spring. If so, you will not be disappointed. It was pretty revealing.

8. Well, all I can say is
I hope his pacemaker is still running. It's got to be a little stressful right now, don't you think?

I mean, how much stress should this man be subjected to? First it was the war in Iraq; turns out to be a big fat fiasco, and now he's getting personally implicated in under the table deals for his beloved benefactor, Halliburton.

By the way, I checked out Halliburton's web site just for kicks, and I noticed there's actually a tab for 'ethics'.

Hmmmm

15. I'm Not Holding My Breath, But Perhaps Because It's CBS...
Nah...I just can't believe that any corporate "news" sponsored program will do anything but tease a story and then completely excuse the VP's actions as "business as usual". Hope I'm wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.

19. IMPORTANT 2-CENTS HERE!
If this is the REPEAT of the original segment from last spring, then it's pretty damning.

However, I find it highly suspicious that the segment producer then later dropped dead of meningitis.

I'm not kidding here.

He was only like, 34, and Steve Kroft was quoted as saying that in his belief, some day this guy was gonna end up running 60 MINUTES. Again, I remember thinking at the time that this piece was pretty scathing, and that these guys really had some guts. I wondered if there would be "retribution" down the line.

People who expose the doings of THe Bush Cartel end up dead. Casolaro. James Hatfield. Even that photo editor who made the decision to publish the photos of the Bush Twins cavorting on the floor of that bar. He was the first person to die of inhalation anthrax.

Taken alone, these deaths might not raise an eyebrow, but with this young TV producer's death after producing an expose' on Cheney, you gotta wonder.

Captain Mike

34. Plus the Alaska story, which also slammed the GOP
Leslie Stahl pointed out that AK's governor is a 'conservative' Republican, who should normally want to 'let the market decide.' However, the GOP-run Senate is pushing through the more-expensive AK pipeline and--get this--banning a competitive, cheaper alternative. More hypocrisy from the GOP.

35. They mentioned a company Woolsey
is associated with - Booze???? can't remember the whole name, have to look it up but that is the company the Army just contracted with to handle veterans claims on Special Combat Related Compensation - Army wasn't getting it done but don't have any idea where they got the money to pay this Company - is money that should be going to the vets - the CRSC for vets is in a slow roll to hell.
