PAX t.v. "Lie Detector" Wingnut Double Whammies KERRY & Annoints GUCKERT

I had never seen this wingnut piece of crap before, including the entire PAX network. I tuned in just for the circus value of GUCKERT being quizzed. Little did I know that Swiftbot Steve GARDNER would also be featured.

I'm sure there were more questions than the THREE featured for each segment. But the featured questions were SO NARROW that it was false advertising for the show to claim it was exonerating GUCKERT and GARDNER. No, it's not that *I* am surprised, but this show is out there and however many of its viewers WILL BELIEVE the results, and for sure GARDNER and GUCKERT will be out there touting their "vindication."

GUCKERT's questions were focused on: "Did the White House feed questions to you?" There are MANY other questions that any of us here would find more relevant.

GARDNER's issues were focused on: "Was the death of a kid on the report?" But when the host was doing the teases, she framed it entirely differently: "This will show whether KERRY KNOWINGLY left the name off the report" and "This will show whether the (ENTIRE Swiftbot) campaign was a smear job or not."

Who is behind the PAX network? I'll be digging and e-mailing.

Bullshitting the Lie Detector
Infiltrator cooks up a criminal past. A PAX TV show absolves him of it. Ain't it a great country?

Going by the name Hank, I express how much, I, who-is-on-parole, would love to be on their TV show (whatever the hell that might be). Immediately the TV producer e-mails back, thrilled to hear from I, who-is-on-parole. She leaves a phone number. I, who-is-on-parole, phone her. I weave an elaborate tale involving weapons and drug charges. This pleases her. I elaborate. I have something to prove to my probation officer. He said I flunked a recent drug test, which landed me back in jail for 20 days. The producer's even more pleased. ....

This is not the only time someone's lied on Lie Detector. ....

Breaking my psycho look, I laugh. It hits me how stupid this all is. ....

The studio lie detector test is actually a shadow play conducted for the cameras. The real lie detector test was administered early in the morning at Dr. Ed's intimidating office, which is filled with plaques from the Los Angeles Police Department. I tried to keep as quiet as possible around Dr. Ed, a man with an extremely dry sense of humor. I figured he probably knows more about the parole system than I will ever learn.

After searching the Internet, I decided the best way to beat a polygraph test was to put a tack in my shoe and poke myself when each question was asked. Thus, one tack in one shoe. I'm not sure if this helped during the morning session. But it was very uncomfortable. ....

The Results
After a big buildup, Rolonda slowly opens an envelope, as if this were the Academy Awards. I'm all prepared to freak out -- extremely -- when she says I failed, perhaps even storm off the set. Streaking might be involved. Rolonda lets out a shrug and sighs.

"Hank, the lie detector has determined ... that you ... are ... Hank, you're telling the truth!"

The music turns triumphant. ....

Pax Network to Drop "Family Friendly" Programming -- No One Watches It

The PAX television network, which markets itself as the "family-friendly" network, has announced it will drop entirely its "family friendly" entertainment programming, replacing it with infomercials. The rationale for the move: The market for so-called "family friendly" television in America is too small. It's ironic, remarks Jonathan Rintel, that the same policymakers who have voted to "deregulate" television and let the market determine ownership and access to television, loudly demand more "family friendly" programming.

.... Pax was launched in 1998 amid much fanfare about how it would be a "family friendly" alternative to the other networks. And its apparent, impending demise is already leading to talk about how family friendly programming can't work in broadcast television.
Which is, of course, sheer baloney. The problem with Pax wasn't the idea behind it, it was the execution of that idea.
There are family friendly shows on other networks that have done quite nicely in the past few years, including current shows like "7th Heaven," "Joan of Arcadia" and "Gilmore Girls." The fact that Pax achieved its greatest success when running reruns of shows like "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" and "Touched by an Angel" is a clear indication that it wasn't the idea behind family programming that was flawed.
Pax's original series — including shows like "Twice in a Lifetime" and "Doc"— were done on the cheap, and it showed. TV viewers are smart enough to see where the money isn't being spent, and Pax didn't have much to spend in the first place.
And its distribution system — a string of mostly UHF stations (60 owned by Paxson itself) may reach 87 percent of American homes in theory, but in practice that reach is considerably less.
If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's that you can't just declare yourself family-friendly and expect families to flock to your network. You've got to deliver the goods — shows that they want to watch.
