Top 3 reasons we will not have a Deep Throat in this administration:

3. The administration has mastered the art of smearing dissenters.
2. They actively gut agencies of non-conformists.

And, big drum roll:

1. So much evidence exists already, it wouldn't make a difference.

This is a not the America of the Watergate era. If we won't hold accountable people who lied to take us to war, put fake reporters in the WH press corps and award contracts for unauditable vote counting systems to partisans, it is difficult to imagine what a whistle blower could offer that would cause sufficient outrage for accountability.

I know there are many DUers hoping for a whistle blower. Look at what we've learned from Richard Clarke and Paul O'Neill, and from our own eyes and ears on war, rights, policy, and on and on and on.

If nothing happens with what is already known, nothing is going to happen.

4. Probably later then sooner
Wouldn't it be ironic if it happened a few months before the 2008 elections?

7. I'm optimistic too
at some point people who supported Bush may start to realize that they were a party to the murder of 3000 other Americans on 9/11 and all that followed.

Republicans and conservatives have to realize the GOP has been hijacked.

3. You forgot to mention
There aren't any newspapers or reporters with guts enough to report on something bad, let alone follow a highly unpopular story. Remember, WaPo got smeared a lot by the WH during Watergate, and Bernstein and Woodward took their own lumps about the stories, too.
