Michael Moore: "..we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons." |
|
I was just thinking back, when Michael Moore made his anti Bush/Iraq war statements at the Oscars in 2003. If people just listened then....
"We live in fictitious times," he said when picking up the award for best documentary for his anti-gun film Bowling for Columbine.
"We live in a time with fictitious election results that elect fictitious presidents. We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons.
"We are against this war, Mr Bush. Shame on you. Shame on you!" he said to loud boos from an audience of 3,500, including most of Hollywood's top stars.

1. What's funny is Howard Stern is the only star I've heard |
|
come forth and say to Moore "I booed you WE booed you and you were right....I apologize"
This is when he had him on his show to promote the opening of F 9/11

3. I didn't know about that |

Howard Stern is such an odd guy...it's weird to like and dislike someone at the same time. It was big of Stern to apologize to Moore.

4. Yea I've got the recording of the whole show |
|
Wish I could post it somehow. When I get around to putting a page or a server up I'll post it.
He not only apologized but I mean it was a BIG apology you could tell he was sincere and that he felt like shit.
Of course Moore being the way he is tells Stern "don't apologize look why should you apologize for the crime of believing your president? I mean if we don't have that....."

I don't get Howard Stern-he is WAY too crude for my taste 95% of the time, but it is big of him to apologize since most of what he does is usually self serving. Too bad he isn't more altruistic like Michael Moore. He could reach a lot of people with his show-not that I listen to it, but there are no doubt lots of freepers who do think Stern is the greatest and might be influenced by him.
Edited to add that I adore Michael Moore and his Oscar speech was probably the start of my eyes being opened though I didn't know it at the time; I just thought he was kick-ass brave. Now, over 2 years later, it's amazing to know that few have spoke out like that since! Why aren't our elected officials speaking out in a BIG way like that?! Why hasn't Clinton?! Why hasn't Kerry?! Okay, so I'm giving Kerry the benefit of the doubt, since I realize that he is trying to work behind the scenes and he's done a lot since the election. But Clinton? This is a great opportunity for him to kick some ass, but instead he kisses the BFEE's ass! :grr:

10. Stern is like a lot of people - |
|
He didn't get it, until it happened to him. Now he knows what it means to live in a country that's no longer a democracy, where you can be denied your right to free speech, now he gets it.

5. Rumor has it that the network broadcasting the Oscars |
|
phonied up the boos for the tv audience. The live audience was not all aghast and needing the salts. ("rumor" because i remember hearing that but don't have a link.)

8. Are you sure you're at the right place? |

You seem awfully negative on the progessives and quite pro-military.
