What Happened To "DU Treasonuos" Message? |
|
31 May 2005 at 11:30 a message was posted labled "DU Treasonous." The thread was about how DU gave aid and comfort to the enemy, that DU was being infiltrated by CU and other whackos, and members of DU were traitors.
This morning it is gone. Did CU and the whackos succeed in getting the thread erased?
What is going on?

3. The Moderators probably deleted it |

Inflammatory threads are quickly, and regularly, pulled from DU. Although "inflammatory" isn't exactly a scientifically-defined term, some things, like calling DU "treasonous", are clearly designed to provoke flame wars.
Most such posts are from Freepers who are playing spy, who come over here to "rattle the animals' cages" a little.
There is very little tolerance for those kinds of posts around here.
DU is a strongly-moderated on-line community. Although they are quick to pull posts and threads, they are also quick to return them if they erred, and even gross personal derelictions are forgiven if there was no attempt to destroy the system (or if the disruptor isn't a Freeper) and sufficient apology is made. Permanent bans are usually reserved for Freepers or just-plain-foaming-at-the-mouth-crazy folks.
Even so, please don't go pushing the limits!
These policies are well-defined. You can always drop a line to one of the Mods or to Admin for more clarification if you have more questions about it -- and keep in mind that it is possible that I am wrong about current policy. :)

5. You are not wrong - Locking this thread as well |
|
Thank you.
Posts that mention what goes on at nut-ball websites are not welcome on DU. It fosters paranoia and is a waste of time. The post copied and pasted here was made last year and had no value or relevance to what goes on at DU.
Furthermore the post from the other site was ridiculous on it's face. From the DU rules:
Do not post messages that could be construed as advocating violence or military defeat against the United States, the U.S. military, US service people, or the people of the United States.
Do not post broad-brush smears against US service people. Do not blame the troops for the mistakes of their officers or their Commander-in-Chief. Show the appropriate level of respect to those individuals who have put their own lives on the line to defend this country.
Locking this thread as well. If the original poster has questions they may contact the administrators.
