great stuff:
http://www.metrobeat.net/gbase/Expedite/Content?oid=oid%3A3291The confusing saga of the faux protest created by Andrew R. Davis is still unfolding, but there are a few facts that are not in dispute. Davis, a 20-year-old political science major, and the publication he edits, the Tiger Town Observer, are ideological soul mates of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, way out in right field where George W. Bush can do no wrong. Why would someone holding these beliefs want to organize an anti-war rally to protest the Bush policy in Iraq?
That's a good question, but what officials really want to know is how Davis managed to fool so many people with such a blatant hoax. Clemson spokesperson Robin Denny confirms, "Judicial Services is investigating, collecting materials and talking to people to determine if there has been a violation of Clemson University policy." In addition, Denny says the apparent ease with which Davis used a fake name to gain approval for his event has the Student Affairs University Union staff "reviewing policy and revising procedures to include positive identification of contact persons for such events."

As Chief Harris sums it up, "This is basically a peaceful, conservative campus that does not rise up for controversy in the way you might have at a more politically diverse institution."
As for the College Republicans, they say they're feeling a little burned by this whole turn of events. Robert Frisina, a senior history major from Columbia who is president of the College Republicans at Clemson, denies any prior knowledge that the event was phony. "It makes us look like fools," said Frisina. "This is a serious blow to our credibility."

Unfortunately for Coulter - and Davis - such stereotypes mostly exist in the minds of ideological nutcases who see black helicopters hovering at the periphery of their most paranoid fantasies. As it turns out, there was a guy in a black ski mask on the Clemson campus spouting ridiculous rhetoric about President Bush - but he was one of the president's supporters. There is an outrage in there somewhere.
