Just what "Reforms" are so vital at the UN that care cannot be taken in
choosing an Ambassador? What "Reforms" are they talking about? Why do they feel that they need to make such "Reforms" in an International Body? Why should not those "Reforms" come from the UN itself if indeed they are warranted? What the hell is going on here? Why has not any Media asked just what it is they want to do to the UN?

I've been saying this every since Dubya and crew started the "UN needs Reform" crap.....

Your points are all valid.

I'm really pissed that the media just swallowed the "reform" line without any question at all.

Good post.

on edit: What irritates me even more is to hear talk show hosts, especially one at NPR, say "We ALL AGREE that the UN needs reform, but........"

BULL!!!!!

5. The reforms will be that anything that interferes with corporate adoration
must be dismantled. Like foreign aid. Also the ICC must be circumvented. And all the less developed nations at WTO meetings clamoring for equalized trade - they must be stopped. Also when a poorer country wants to nationalize or input government programs (in order to grow some capacity & meet national goals as trade erupts) must be stopped.

All succor must come from corporations.

6. Just typical Republican
talk. They create crisis in programs that are not in crisis and address problems that dont exist. They do this to
A) Discredit working programs
B) Ignore real problems that are hard to solve
C) Create fake talking points by blaming liberals for not having solutions to problems that don't exist

7. The UN is looking at reforms, they have been since 1997...
when Kofi Annan took office. The US wants Bolton there, imo, to sabotage the genuine efforts to reform the UN to meet today's needs.
