US sponsored death squads in Iraq. Why are our heads in the sand on this?
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 10:32 AM by MrScorpio
When I mentioned to my Army Combat Cameraman buddy yesterday that we're responsible for unleashing El Salvador-style death squads in Iraq he mentioned to me that he himself had to take pictures of some dead bodies that were dumped out in the middle of nowhere.

Today you still hear the bitching of the cons, who complain about the sins of Saddam and his supporters, why aren't they complaining about the same ugly atrocities that their own tax dollars are paying for?

Iraq is getting more tragic by the second. Only the truly moranic fail to recognize this.

1. Not only that, but there are rumors that the US is actually setting up
some of the suicide bombers. We're planting bombs in their cars. In others words, we're driving the insurgency and the sectarian violence.

2. I don't know if we're behind the IED problem
But I do know that if we were, it would be a prototypical CIA operation.

6. This is not about the IEDs, supposedly we are rigging the suicide bombers.

10. The truthseeker is a website run by Hitler-loving fascists.
I wouldn't place much stock in their 'rumors.'

12. One of the sources in the essay is the Iraqi blogger Riverbend, who I
find credible, and another source is an Iraqi journalist. I am not saying this is really happening. I'm just saying it is a rumor in Iraq.

4. An omelette of evil
This shit didn't bring democracy to Central America. It brought a lot of bloodshed, both Central American and our own.

It didn't work before that, in Vietnam.

Death squads will not work today, unless of course, you want as much bloodshed as possible.

This is the worst sort of criminal sadism.

and probably should have used the "sarcasm" smilie. But I really do believe that the vast majority of our "leaders" from both parties see it that way, breaking eggs to make an omelette; they think our goals there (whether Central America or Iraq) are noble, and though the "price may be high, it's worth it". And for most of them -- I speak of our "leaders" here -- there is no sadistic pleasure involved (in the death squads themselves, yes, sadism is a prerequisite for participating); rather, they prefer not to "trouble their beautiful minds" contemplating the circumstances they have helped create and are perpetuating.

5. I just wish this would be handled
in US papers, but you know what that would do.
It would interrupt our Nuzak elevator news

7. 4 million civilians killed in Vietnam with death squads. These gov't
officials that do this stuff and those that support them deserve a special hell for themselves - both here and in eternity.

11. Just curious: Didn't Clinton put a ban on hiring "dirty operatives"
(ie, "criminals") for intelligence work and was chastised by chortling Republicans for such a naive action? No doubt such a ban would have been lifted by BushCo (the "Realists"), resulting in such despicable acts...

13. Remember that the Bushies already have plenty of blood on their hands
So many of them were directly responsible for the bloodbath in Central America during the '80s.

So in a way, policies that result in this sort of mayhem are all that they know.
