UH - UH - UH... The U.S. President is SOOOOOO STUUUUPIIIIID!
I just "happened" to catch a snippet of the news conference The Boy King Wonder was having while Thabo Mbeki, S. African President was visiting here.

If ever there was any doubt about his intelligence, this one should have left NO DOUBT that he's incredibly DUMB!!

Mostly I heard Uh, Uh, Uh and dodging of any question he didn't want to answer. Mbeki looked so much more refined simply by setting NEXT to him! I've never understood WHY he's still there and as each day goes by, I wonder more and more just HOW THIS HAPPENED!!

What A Doofus.... I can't even imagine what other countries must be thinking!

8. he got that wrong, too... it actually means 'to take apart' the dumb-shit
the word he was looking for is 'dissemble'...

Word of the Day for Monday May 30, 2005

dissemble \dih-SEM-buhl\, transitive verb:
1. To hide under a false appearance; to hide the truth or true nature of.
2. To put on the appearance of; to feign.

6. It's just a front
I recall an interview with Ann Richards from before Bush ran for President. She said she had made the mistake of underestimating him. She said that she had learned too late that he was smart, focused and relentless. She thought that the folksy thing was simply an affectation.

We are still making the same mistake. Bush is not a stupid puppet. He's just a lousy public speaker. It has been working for him for 20 years and we keep falling for it.

says that Bush has been cultivating the "regular guy" image ever since Yale, and people keep falling into the trap.

Bush is a dolt...Richards is just trying to comfort herself for losing to a chimpanzee. Everyone here needs to trust their eyes and ears. This guy is not an actor he didnt go to Julliard for Christ's sake. He got a first rate business education and this is the product? His brain is either fried from all the coke he snorted in the '70's or the Bush gene pool is weak as hell....Come on folks Arbusto anyone? Does anyone think he really ran Arbusto into the ground for political traction? He has no SKILLS ...I repeat the man is inept. You cant script the crap that comes out of this man's mouth.

To put up the meme that Bush is really intelligent is an insult to the intelligence of this whole blog...

End Rant...

one thing that bush has done with his smart self that has been a success. From the disastrous war to the destroyed economy to devasted environment and on and on and on. Winning an election doesn't make him smart either. It just proves that he knows how to dance with the devil.

32. I believe he's cunning and focused on things that benefit HIM ...
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 07:21 PM by Lisa
If his welfare or self-preservation is at stake, he will put all his energy into it. Sort of like the guy who's skipped all his classes, panics when Daddy tells him he's out of the will if he flunks -- and begs from, steals from, or bullies his classmates into helping him pass the course. Of course, if he doesn't think that a particular topic or person is going to benefit him, he couldn't care less. If he's not interested, he isn't going to bother learning about it or thinking about it ... someone here at DU said it was "functional stupidity", and that even if Bush is of normal or above-normal intelligence, he'd be ignorant about those things.

He doesn't care about the environment, or other countries, or people who are poorer than he is -- so, emulating his mom, he doesn't use his "beautiful mind" on them.

My guess is that Bush is able to walk into a room and suss out who is likely to donate money or lobby powerful friends on his behalf. (Not too farfetched, since there are people, sexual predators for example, who can zero in on the vulnerable and ignore anyone who will be unresponsive or fight back.)

One thing I've noticed, after reading multiple biographical accounts, is that Bush seems to know when to kiss up to people and when to threaten them. I guess that this would fit under the social skills area which some psychologists view as a form of intelligence. One hesitates to think of deception and intimidation as "skills", but like it or not there are situations in our society where being ruthlessly opportunistic is praised. It depresses me, but I've been outcompeted for jobs by people who are lauded for those qualities, so I know it happens.

And I've seen some very intelligent people fooled into either ignoring that aspect of someone's personality ("yeah, she's intense, but she really knows how to get the job done, and that's the main thing"), or totally believing that s/he is SUCH a nice person who would NEVER do anything underhanded.

Ann Richards is very smart.
She was being kind to him those many years ago.
I wasn't there at that time but I have watched him carefully for these horrible years and he is STUPID now.

"We" don't fall for it - the NeoCons and bigots keep falling for it.
They know that he wants the majority in this country to stay in power. They will put up with a snake in heat to keep that power.

15. Oh, right--he's stupid like a fox He has pulled one over on everyone
He may not be the brightest bulb, but he's cunning and sly and sneaky and is smart enough to manipulate half of 'Murka into voting for him.

This I see as one of the left's major problems--a sort of "disconnect" over this guy's intellect and a lack of focus on the fact that to beat an enemy, you MUST--repeat--YOU MUST respect him AS an enemy, or you cannot beat him.

If we don't even acknowledge how smart the enemy actually is, then we will have no hope of outsmarting him. (hey, not that I'm opposed to having a blast over making fun of him, but as long as we realize that we can't base our future on it)

Seen any dems talking like Galloway lately....thought not...

Congress(D) showed a lack of resolve and gave Bush the go-ahead on Iraq because many were afraid it would be too politically costly to do otherwise in a post 9-11 environment...

WE DID THIS TO OURSELVES.... Bush is no genius. Gimme a freakin break.

we still have lefties walking around whose main occupation in life is to diss the chimp's intellect. Sorry, but that is pathetic. So give ME a break, will ya? But I do agree about the spineless part, but I see that because of the nature of politicians is ..well...to be re-elected. They are spineless because its the nature of the beast.

37. You're only half correct...
Bush really is an idiot. He's not cunning or clever in the least. And he certainly did not convince over half of America to vote for him, that was Corporate America via Madison Avenue. They could sell dog shit on a stick. The real enemy is the machinery behind the the man.
Bush is where he is because of his name only. He has never earned or worked for a single thing in his life. Daddy's name was enough. It got him into the best schools. It probably was enough to get those gentleman's C's on his transcripts. Ass kissers from all over the country were prepared to throw money away to curry favor with Daddy. Sure, they would do business with a chimp if the President would give them a wink and nod later on.

Make a monkey Governor, easy enough when his name is Bush. Should be a hit with conservative Texans. He doesn't have to craft policy; he just needs to rubber stamp it.

Primate as president, definitely doable! Just keep him from talking too much and the media will carry the day. Oh what an interesting circumstance, terrorists have attacked the nation... Who would dare question the President now, after all we are at war... watch what you say! Did the monkey just poop on the White House lawn? I think we need to raise the terror alert level from 'Anxious Amber' to 'Scared Shitless Scarlet.'

Having a sock puppet for president isn't that hard in a country where people lack critical thinking skills, and are prone to manipulation. Bush is not the 'brains' behind this neo-con junta, he's just a fortunate son.
