Why isn't anyone mentioning the Howard Hughes connection to Watergate?

With all the Deep Throat hoo-ha, why no mention of the Hughes Theory?

In February, Lesley Stahl did a piece on "60 Minutes" in which she interviewed a Watergate investigator who believes Nixon may have wanted the Watergate Democratic office burglarized because Demo chair Larry O'Brien had once worked for Howard Hughes.

Hughes had funneled money to Nixon through Bebe Robozo to get favorable government treatment for his airline and defense-contractor interests.

So Nixon was paranoid about Hughes, O'Brien, AND O'Brien's connection to Hughes. That may be why the break-in itself happened, this report suggested. The Hughes Theory was included in the Watergate report, but was taken out, some believe, because Hughes gave money to so many congresscritters of both parties, and they wanted the spotlight taken off that aspect of the story.

The story totally died after "Aviator" had been in theaters a while. But the evidence is interesting, perhaps even compelling.
