I think Poppy likes the Big Dog more than he likes his own son |

Clinton is on Larry King right now.
Says he's going to visit Poppy at Kennebunkport to play golf, and go sailing.

3. Well, how hard could that be? |

Poppy ain't stupid! His kid is, but Poppy at least kept his own businesses afloat, if not the country. His own son is a total disaster. Everything he touches turns to sludge.

Clinton beat him; Clinton would have kicked Dub's scrawny AWOL butt, and Clinton is smarter than all of Poppy and Bar's kids combined by a factor of at least ten.
Plus, Clinton never lied to involve us in a conflict. Could we picture either Dub or Poppy being able to say that, or even more, winning a war with no--zero--American casualties?
I'll bet that when Poppy thinks about it, Clinton is--by and large--the president Poppy wishes HE had been!:eyes:

Clinton is a conservative who can TALK. Let's face it, the Idiot and his brothers aren't much to be proud of: rich and dishonest, only where they are because of the family name and money. Even Marvin's been caught with his hands in the till.
Some material for an Imperial Dynasty! Daddy Bush should just give up the idea and enjoy what's left of his retirement and hope the hell nobody finds out where HIS bodies are buried.

The crazy aunt in the attic, the cousin who did time, the first wife who dumped your brother, and the son who who is dragging down the nation. Not mentioned except in vague references.

11. given his options, can you blame him? |

A ne'er-do-well (Little George) and a bunch of schemers (Jeb and his political ambitions, Neil and the Silverado swindle) -- the males in the family haven't given Poppy much to choose from. And when confronted with this, Georgie lashed out and got all resentful. I don't think he's ever going to forgive his father -- accused him during the 2000 campaign of saying that his "idea of the perfect son is Al Gore". You can bet that Little George doesn't pass up the chance to needle his dad about being a one-termer. And Bar probably lets him get away with it -- Poppy can't smack him down without them tag-teaming him.
Imagine having that to look forward to, every family Christmas dinner for the rest of his life.
If Poppy were given the chance to trade in his boys for Clinton, Gore, and Kerry, I think he would go for it.

He is still creating a legacy after the thugs tried to ruin him....by being decent to the opposition....who can fault him?
He has to cringe about shrub like the rest of us do.
I liked his comment about the christian right hurting themselves. They are shoving their "I have all the answers" shit down our throats...but now we are starting to spit it right back out at them.
My god told me to say that!

I wish he'd chosen someone else to bond with, but I can see how they'd have a lot to talk about.
