teens who wear black hoodies: cause for alarm?
a ridiculous notion currently being passed around on t.v. shows and gossip. this reminds me of the kids who wore stick on elvis sideburns you could buy in a gum ball machine.

it's so so ridiculous

2. No. lol
I just can't see my 12 yr old in his black hoodie wreaking havoc upon the world. I think wearing their pants under their butt cheeks is more dangerous. seriously they could trip and fall and hurt themselves.

thank goodness! We saw a kid with his pants falling off and my son rolled his eyes and informed me that it is, "So last year ..."

7. it was more of a 90's thing
my son wears themb aggy but they're up around his waist. (his grandma made a comment last sunday and he had to raise his shirt and show her they were up). but what I never understood was, the thing where they were wearing their sweatpants with one leg pulled up to the knee. does anyone know what that was supposed to signify?

Or a way of showing your roots/allegiance to the hood.

I could be wrong. I could be very wrong, if I am I'm sure someone will correct me.

11. Have you seen any boys wearing "girl pants" yet?
It's um...well different.

Not such a bad look on some frames, but not something you'd want to see on many.

I'd soon be pining for the droopy drawers days.

13. I know there is a boy down the block being teased
for wearing "girl pants". I wasn't aware that this was something others were doing.

God, it sucks to be a teen. I try to encourage them to be civilized, but they refuse to be tamed.

25. I'm a girl who wears "boy pants"
They just fit better (you know, around the waist instead of falling off my hips), have better pockets, and are union-made. How much better than that can you get?

I don't understand why anyone would want to wear "girl pants," all you get with them is shittier pockets (and sweatshops).

27. I work with the public...
...and am constantly amazed at how young men wear their pants in this fashion. Aside from looking ridiculous, each wearer has to hold up his pants with one hand, resulting in the loss of that hand when conducting daily business.

All in the name of fashion...:eyes:

8. As soon as teens know that the hoodies are alarming,
they'll start wearing them more. Its the rebellious nature of teenagers. Hell, if we starting complaining about the danger of teenage guys wearing ties, they'd all put on ties just for the shock value.

Clothes don't make a kid good or bad.

14. Or long hair
Shit, I grew the most hideous mullet in high school (this was the late 80's) just to piss my mom off. She ranted and raved constantly about my hair when she should have been worried about my drug use and chronic truancy.

33. Thanks for the info
I'm not aware that Neighborhoodies is unethically made.... I'm not even sure I know what that means... but I do know that they are all handmade, by them, right here in the USA. I can't speak to their union affiliations. They just make great customized hoodies, t-shirts, sweat shirts etc.

39. Oh, well that's ok. As long as they aren't made in sweatshops
like Gap and Old Navy hoodies. I buy as much of my stuff as possible through Unions, USA-made, and Fair Trade. A lot of it costs the same as the "brand-name" stuff but you know the money actually goes to the people who make it, and not the CEO of the company.

Where all the folks tired of war, of poverty, of racial inequality, put on their black hoodies and went to the voting booth to get rid of Bush? Teens in black hoodies are a good thing.

28. Not to repeat myself but...
If you're looking to buy a new one, check out www.nosweatapparel.com or www.unionjeancompany.com , they have union-made hoodies. I have one and it's quite nice. It's also nice to know that your clothing wasn't made by poor 12 year old girls in a dirty factory for less than a sustaining wage overseas somewhere.

(not a paid endorsement, I don't work for them, I just think everyone should buy union-made stuff!)

38. Hoodies, whatever colour, are being demonised in the UK
The Deiniol shopping centre in Bangor banned customers from wearing hoods after problems identifying shoplifters on CCTV footage.

The centre's manager said they were the ones leading the ban - a full three months before more high-profile centres joined the fray.

In early May, the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent banned hooded topwearers, in an attempt to cut down on Britain's yob culture.

After the move, applauded by PM Tony Blair, Manchester's Trafford Centre followed suit. However, the measures have already been in place for several months in Bangor in a scheme backed by the city's police.

http://icnorthwales.icnetwork.co.uk/news/regionalnews/tm_objectid=15579050&method=full&siteid=50142&headline=we-were-first-to-ban-hoodies-name_page.html

A group of youngsters are to hold a protest – over fears of a ban on “hoodies” and baseball caps in a city shopping centre.

Members of the Scottish Socialist Youth (SSY) will meet outside the Eastgate shopping centre in Inverness on Saturday to protest at Tony Blair’s “hats off” policy, which is being backed by Northern Constabulary.
...
The protest comes just a week after Manchester teenager Dale Carroll, 16, was banned from wearing a hooded top for five years after terrorising a community in a campaign of violence.

It is thought to be the first time someone has been banned from wearing a hooded top in the UK.

http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=4631980

ORGANISERS of a funfair at Brent Cross have banned youngsters who are wearing hooded tops.

Bob Wilson's funfairs put out radio adverts for the event, ending with the words 'no hoodies'.
