I would say from the increased attacks abroad in Iraq against US trained Iraqi troops, US supported Iraqi government officials and US troops themselves - that the war is being waged on the insurgents terms, and the US is just struggling to hold on.
There have been massive protests in Iraq against the US occupation - of which very very little is covered by MSM...and just this morning I read where troops have been poisoned with watermelon.
I bet George W. Bush didn't expect to launch a most effective "univeristy" for terrorists to practice and refine their techniques against traditional military troops in Iraq when he authorized the invasion.
I have heard many suggestions ranging from just get out of Iraq, to stay and stabilize...and I must be honest that I really do not know the safest course of action - not only for Iraqi's, but the entire middle east, the US and the globe. It feels like the US has been forced down a badgerhole - and each inch forward results in more collapse of the tunnel, more biting insects nipping, tearing and bleeding. You cannot proceed as there is no exit visible, and turning around is impossible. It has become the Bush nightmare....and we are all forced to participate, one way or another.
The only clear path that I can reasonably see is for the US to impeach Bush and Cheney. Not realistic I know, but I lament that this is the only course of action that will restore US credibility across the world. It is the only way to uphold the notion that laws supercede government power. It is the only way for the US to reasonably admit it was hoodwinked by a cabal of criminals. It is the only way for Iraq to trully become a soveriegn INDEPENDANT nation.

1. It will take a lot more than those two impeachments, but that's a good |

start.
Insurgency is rebeling against the authorized government. Who authorized us? They have turned this into a Vietnam. A big quagmire. It is sickening to see it happening and it's sickening to see those stupid "support Our Troops" ribbons while the Iraq people are being slaughtered every day. We have to get out and take our privitzation plans with us. Let the rest of the world go in. They were on good terms with Iraq before we screwed everything up. But we have to be prepared for the worse here - gas prices sky high as the Arab world gets even.

This is just fine as long as its just troops or Iraqi's affected. It's the neocon, pnac, and corporate agenda that counts.
The fact is that people in the USA are not protesting in ways that make an impact on power or the brainwashed populace. To counteract the great effectiveness of the Bush-media propaganda machine, there will have to be great suffering on the part of many, enough to bring them out of the dazed stupor they live in right now.

blaming bush and cheney are fine -- pushing the facts about their deceptions are fine.
but our fellow country persons have a lot to consider -- they voted for his admin. and still offer considerable support.
as we push to rid ourselves of bushco's tyranny -- we need to consider the very nature of our country that brought us here. it didn't start with 9/11 -- 9/11 just exposed us all to some very ugly personal realities.
oh and get out now -- you can't always avoid the fact that a nations development is violent and ugly -- that's what george has bought for the iraqi people.

4. You have to call them 'insurgents'. It makes them easier to kill. |
|
'Insurgents' makes them sound bad, evil and nasty. If you call them 'rebels', then all of a sudden, they're brave patriotic people who are defending their homeland against an illegal, immoral and unjustified invasion; and we can't have that now can we? :sarcasm:
