Boy Allegedly Forced To Lick Teacher's Toes For Candy
Boy Allegedly Forced To Lick Teacher's Toes For Candy

POSTED: 7:47 am EDT June 2, 2005
UPDATED: 7:53 am EDT June 2, 2005

A mother in Georgia is accusing a teacher at her son's elementary school of having him lick her toes in exchange for some candy, according to Local 6 News.

Denise Strozier said her son was given candy after he licked the toes of his fourth grade teacher at Temple Elementary in Carroll County.

Strozier said she learned about the alleged toe licking incident after reading handwritten messages in her son's yearbook.

The teacher allegedly wrote, "don't lick anyone else's toes" in the boy's yearbook.

7. NOT funny.
If this is true, the teacher is a child molester and the child is a victim who will suffer for the rest of his life. I never understand people who trivialize the far-too-common problem of sexual exploitation of children by some of the teachers we pay to protect them.

31. You taught children for 20 years and you think it's funny to imagine a
little boy who was forced by classmates and a teacher to lick the teacher's toes actually did it because he wanted to look up her skirt?

I can sympathize with the frustrated high school teacher who duct-taped an unruly teen to the chalk board (actually thought that one WAS funny), but this woman humiliates young children for fun. That is sick, sick, sick.

I thought my joke was funny.

That is different than whatever trauma (if any) this child experienced. I don't know anything about the case but what was in the OP. This teacher should be glad that I wasn't her supervisor.

That said, be warned that there is little that I consider above humor, and my fraternity brothers agree. This is DU, and not the classroom. While I would have no patience with sick teachers, I don't feel the same about sick humor. I hope you can see the difference.

On edit: The story is third hand at best. We have no idea what really happened. We have no idea how the boy was affected, if at all. I can't see the point of me crying about it.

In my years in school as a student, I had seen teachers humiliate students. That affected me such that I made sure none of my students were humiliated, and everyone in my classroom was respected. But again, we're not in the classroom now.

48. Where would it not be sexual - or at least very odd?
Almost any lick could be at least mildly sexual. Certainly too sexual for a child this young and a teacher.

If not overtly sexual, it's just extremely weird.

There was a teacher/coach here in Oregon this year, who licked athletes' bleeding wounds. I think he was finally charged w/ child endangerment or something, as this weird practice risked the exchange of blood-borne pathogens. Weird, weird, weird.

50. And I Didn't Say It Wasn't "Weird"
I merely asked what exactly made licking a toe "sexual". I didn't wonder if it was normal for a kid to lick someone's toe. I merely asked how it was "sexual".

Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 09:48 PM by GiovanniC
If someone licks my hand, is that sexual too?

Maybe I have a hand fetish.

What if someone licks my shin... is that also sexual?

How about licking my finger... maybe that's sexual also? Man, my wife puts frosting on her finger and lets the baby lick it off... should I call the Department of Children's Services? Maybe she has a secret finger fetish... I shudder to think of it. Forcing the baby to lick her finger for sweets... just to get her rocks off.

What, specifically, is "sexual" about licking a toe?

14. Actually, the mistreatment of children by school employees is
greatly underreported and almost never makes it past the local media. I'm all for schools and am a former teacher myself, but the fact is that some people are attracted to working in schools because it provides them with access to child victims. There is nothing sacred about a teaching certificate that puts its holder above suspicion. This is, of course, also true of soccer coaches, scout leaders, camp counselors and so on.

Rather than blaming the media for shining some light on this tragedy, we should be asking why the hell this wasn't caught sooner and how many other innocent children were victimized by this individual.

I have no reason to believe the school in this story is a "lunatic asylum," but, if this is true, this teacher is clearly a lunatic.

16. Schools have always been like this -- they're almost certainly
better now, in fact. There's much more oversight, plus the threat of lawsuits if teachers screw up, which was not the case when I was in school.

And what happens to kids in school is NOTHING compared to what happens in the home.

I once helped recruit teachers to work in rural schools, and it killed me to hear the young people spouting their beliefs about how dangerous public schools are. In fact, kids are FAR safer in school than at home or in the street (or in *ahem* churches). Yes, there are bad teachers and nutty situations, but no more than ever.

My personal, admittedly unproven, theory: the right wing has it in for public schools. They'd like them dismantled, ultimately. And the first line of attack is to completely undermine the public's faith in them.

Perhaps I'm paranoid. But there really are a lot of these stories, so you have to wonder what's behind them...

30. No doubt the RW has it in for schools, but that doesn't make this woman
anything but a predator (presuming this story is true). Unfortunately, she has apparently helped the RW undermine her profession, as well as our public education system. She should get no grace from the press, the school district or anyone else.

Seriously, If the teacher wrote that, the kid probably did something goofy/creepy like toe licking either her or another kid.

Asking a middle schooler about this sort of cryptic note could elicit lots of weird butt-covering stories.
