3. I do have a copy of the email
I didn't want to post it because it might reveal personal information.

I wrote the post so everyone could be aware of this.

9. Except...
The company president, Ray Weadock, used to run a company called Fortress Technologies. Googling his name, looking into usenet newsgroups, I came up with this from a 2001 post from Tom Klemesrud:

> Fortress Technology apparently has a contract for "resellers" with an
> entity called "SAIC." - Science Applications International Corp.
> (One of the things SAIC has on it's agenda is counterterrorism.)

It is generally thought that SAIC is a spook organization for the
"company."

11. More info on SAIC
Could this be something to do with the Bush Administration's sudden interest in domestic terror organizations (oh, not the rightward ones, of course)?

From an SAIC press release:

> Together with SAIC, customers can establish a formidable presence to
> arrest or even prevent global terrorist activities. SAIC supports
> counterterrorism crisis management services including doctrinal
> development; comprehensive critical incident response training and exercise
> programs; contingency, continuity, and emergency operations planning; and
> information technology support for civil and military crisis action teams.
> From an extensive resource pool of security and information protection
> professionals, SAIC offers tailor-made counterterrorism programs that
> address the needs of diverse situations.
> Chairman's Quote...

> "Terrorism no longer is limited to certain isolated regions of the world.
> It has become a global problem affecting governments, companies and
> individuals. No one is completely immune. "

> - Dr. J. Robert Beyster, CEO and chairman of SAIC

> SAIC Vice President David Kay directs SAIC's counterterrorism program.
> Before joining SAIC, Kay was the United Nations' Chief Nuclear Weapons
> Inspector and led numerous inspections into Iraq following the end of the
> Gulf War to determine Iraq's nuclear weapons production capability. He also
> managed the analysis of the Iraqi nuclear program and its implications for
> non-proliferation and arms control activities.

Interestingly enough, all of this is from the alt.religion.scientology newsgroup...go figure.

2. Probably a virus
My company sent me an email saying my account was deactivated... and I'm the email administrator! The sender's address is spoofed to look like it's from your company or ISP.

4. Can you give us some more information?
Who has been receiving these emails? Do the recipients have email accounts with persystent? What exactly do the emails say? What makes you think that they may be connected to Bushes or voting machines? Give us some info and we may be able to do some sleuthing.

6. Follow Up information
A blog has received this email that is anti-Bush, talks about issues in politics and the workplace (posts that ARE NOT favorable to the Bushes White House etc)

I'm suspicious because the email came from FLORIDA FROM A TECHNOLOGY FIRM AND WAS SENT TO A BLOG THAT IS ANTI-BUSH. That's my reason for suspicion. Persystent has a slimey feel to it.

I'm interested in their ties and connections and who they know and who's TELLING THEM TO SEND THESE THREATENING EMAILS.

7. Spoofing can be the cause, hell, I even received a spoof from my own
work Email to my own work email, telling me that my account has been suspended, and I am the dang IT person. Of course there is either an attachment I can click on to read how I can get keep my account from being deactivated, or there is a link I can click to fill out some information to fix the issue.

Spoofing is clever, and it sucks.

8. The website is using a proxy; Sanford, not Tampa; 20 or so redirects
Just a bit of info.

The site domain claims to be registered in Sanford, not Tampa. Email Joeblowski@persystent.net to report abuse (Email sounds fake to me)

Traffic passes through 2 .siteprotect.com domains before reaching the DNS you named via traceroute, a dig bounces through about 20 servers before even reaching siteprotect...I think. I should have saved the information.

Anyway, smells like a spam operation; I didn't visit the actual site listed, though, since I don't want myself to end up on a spam/questionable list, and don't quite feel like reconfiguring my firewall.

President of Persystant used to run Fortress, who had ties to SAIC, who was heavy into antiterrorism and was said to be tied to the "Company"
