You must have SOME amazing record of service racked up if you feel comfortable attacking the one man who has investigated and exposed more government corruption than any lawmaker in modern history.

Please share.

or Dean or any of the dems
It's more a matter of--please--help us--we're dying out here--we can't do anything without some leadership

29. Portraying Dems as weak is a rightwing success story.
People believe spin more than they do facts.

I think its dumb to believe RNC storylines put up by the corporate media.

I back all Dems who are willing to put their necks on the line to speak out against those who control most of the media. It's not easy.

76. Exactly.. the Dems are portrayed as weak
because they have been weak. Until Galloway's testimony I had forgotten just how lame they have been. His testimony was a shot of truth that I was unprepared for. Even the exceptions, Boxer, Conyers, etc have been somewhat restrained in their efforts to get the Bush Administration. Galloway was the first person in a long time to lay it all on the line. It's nice to see some Dems attempting to follow his lead.

Have fax'd a copy of the following DU thread to his office earlier today:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3770220

We have all the evidence of mendacity and illegal war-making we need to indict and prosecute Bush, Blair and every other neoconster scum-bag on the planet having any involvement in the Bush's illegal war on Iraq and all the torture and other atrocities that have been committed since August 2002.

Peace.

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - How ever long it takes, the day must come when tens of millions of caring individuals peacefully but persistently defy the dictator, deny the corporatists cash flow, and halt the evil being done in Iraq, and in all the other places the Bu$h neoconster regime is destroying civilization and the environment in the name of "America."

.... on several key issues to be ready to go on the attack.

We should all be prepared to phone, fax, mail, email, blog, boycott, demonstrate - whatever it takes - with more intensity and regularity than at any time since Dec 9 2000 to bring Bush and the neoconsters to justice and begin repairing our America.

Peace.

15. fooj: Checkout some great remarks from FDR!
Freedom of Speech
Freedom of Worship
Freedom from Want
Freedom from Fear

~ From FDR'S 1941 State of the Union Address ~

Other famous quotes from President Franklin D. Roosevelt:

"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; It is whether we provide enough for those who have too little."

"I never forget that I live in a house owned by all the American People and that I have been given their trust."

"I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood running from the wounded. I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed. I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of mothers and wives." "I have seen war - I hate war!"

"there is nothing to fear but fear itself."

"I propose to creat a civilian conservation corps to be used in simple work... More important, however than the material gains will be the moral and spiritual value of such work."

Morals, values and spiritual: Sound familiar?

"We must scrupulously guard the civil rights and civil liberties of all citizens, whatever their background."

"We must remember that any oppression, any injustice, any hatred, is a wedge designed to attack our civilization."

"We have faith that future generations will know that here in the middle of the twentieth century, there came a time when men of good will found a way to unite and produce and fight to destroy the forces of ignorance and intolerance and slavery, and war."

"I pledge you, I pledge myself to a new deal for the American people."
~ FDR'S 1932 FDR acceptance speech ~

"The structure of world peace cannot be a peace cannot be the word of one man, or one party, or one nation, it much be a peace which rests on the cooperative effort of the whole world." The 1st First Lady honored with a statue set in a presidential memorial.
~ First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt ~

but.....this really shows how much information doesnt get to washington and our leaders sitting in their sealed tight box. and i think that is the same that happened with election.

look how long the downing st minutes took to get kerry's attention.

the good thing, he knows it is loud on internet. maybe his people will gain confidence in this tool, and sites like du to have their world open up a bit

good for kerry, another rah. lets see what he has.

i am enjoying him, and other dem senators

37. "Old news" plus "It's only an opinion". That's what they'll SAY, anyway.
The former ("old news") of course, is ridiculous.

"It's old news that Bush lied to Congress, the American people and the world in initiating an unprecedented and illegal war of choice... so why do anything about it now?! We already KNOW he's a war criminal!"

That of course, is ridiculous.

Watch out for the latter, though. While many keep saying that it's "minutes" and not a memo, that's not entirely true... They may be closer to "minutes", but they are not a verbatim word-for-word transcript of the meeting. Even Kieth Olbermann made this point when doing a show on it weeks ago.

AND it IS one person's take (Dearlove) on the situation in Washington. Actually, another person's characterization of Dearlove's take on the situation in Washington, and the Bush administration's actions. So they will attempt to cast it in that way, too.

BUT of course, I'm just playing Devil's Advocate... answering your question.

The appropriate response is to point out that this document does not occur in a vacuum. It backs up, in a very reliable way from official government documents, what has already been said by many... including Bush's own former counter-terrorism chief (Clarke) and Treasury Secretary (O'Neill).

It is as near as we may ever come to a "smoking gun" that the Bush administration is indeed guilty of everything its critics have been saying since before the war started.

IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK, AND QUACKS LIKE A DUCK...

102. I agreeeeee!!! AND KERRY SHOULD ALSO DENOUNCE THIS:

PNAC

Because one of the BIGGEST (if not THE biggest...) HOLDUP in history has been perpetrated on (AND IS STILL GOING ON SINCE...) November & December 2000!!

IMHO, if the neocon gangsters are not exposed for the Greedy Dominionists they are, unfortunately (again), the DSM will be spinned, and spinned again as being "old news," while everything these wrongdoers do his AVAILABLE (in the open) from THEIR OWN WWW SITE!!! Kerry MUST BACK IT UP (the DSM) with WHAT THEY PLANNED TO DO (bribe, steal, rob, torture, kill, etc.) since at least AS FAR BACK AS 1998.

PNAC 101 (printable version):

This has been a presentation of The Whispering Campaign - an opportunity to become ACTIVELY involved in educating the American public without drawing attention to yourself. This is a game of Political "Gossip" where the story of our Government's deception and betrayal gets passed from one villager to another.

Anyone can play. The rules are simple: make ten copies of this timeline and leave it in a public place where someone else will find it and read it. Ideal locations for maximum exposure include

+ book stores,
+ copy shops,
+ libraries and train stations.
+ Buses,
+ taxis,
+ laundromats,
+ and check-out lines at the grocery store.
+ Hair salons,
+ rest rooms,
+ gas stations
+ and convenience stores. Anywhere you happen to be will work just fine.
The American public deserves to know the TRUTH!

i put my traveling compainions face in the papers and said.."you watch..this will not even make the evening news at home." and it hasn't!!i need to call her today and ask her when the "liberal" media will run this new watergate memo....she's a half assed repub..but did vote reluctantly for kerry ...
but honestly this was headline story in europe...and people were talking about it...
the question i got several times was..what is wrong with americans ..now?? we used to think you were brave..why don't you stand up to *...i had no answer other than to say many of us do..the media just won't cover it...one guy from denmark said.."then there aren't enough of you protesting!!" lol...

57. Downingstreetmemo
makes it extremely easy to send or call everyone, today is Peter Jennings and PBS. There is also complete list of Senators.

62. Yeah, I know, I know
MINUTES not memo. As you are all aware, the difference between MEMO/MINUTES was not completely understood at the inception. They have great resources, so overlook the Memo snaffoo.

44. This is SO GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only thing that could top this is if he also happened to mention
what "other things" he believes * to be guilty of-like vote fraud!
Maybe he just needs to say one thing,..."I would like to ask Karl Rove to submit to a polygraph that he had nothing to do with the call to "fix" the numbers in Bush's favor?" yeah, I know I'm dreaming, dreaming, dreaming, but hey- I digress..Go-JOHN GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give em hell, Johnny!
I sent ya an email, cuz I'm so proud of you!!!!

67. Great News to see any one of them with a spine!

I love John Kerry so I hope this demonstrates what he is made of again.

He said that he would watch our backs well-let's bring it on John!

68. Polygraph on Rove? He'd pass with flying colors, sad to say ---
a polygraph measures fluctuations in autonomic nervous system reactions (sweating, body temp, pulse and respiration rates) resulting from "stress" that occurs when a person lies. Those with no conscience can pass a polygraph, literally, with NO SWEAT!

97. Here is my dream scenario...
MSM finally pays attention after the speech. At the same time, the grand jury that was en paneled last week in Ohio sends down indictments for all those involved in the 'coingate' scandal, including Ken Blackwell. Blackwell, not wanting to do jail time, decides to come clean regarding election 2004...Kerry won.

Too far-fetched?

45. Kerry should be pissed
He voted for IWR based on the BS intel that Bush provided him and that was one of the issues that he struggled with during the election. To find out he was lied to should anger him as much as it angers anyone else.

54. The minutes gives Kerry and all DEMS an OUT...
When Bush/media claims "But you had the same info Bush had..."

DEMS can now say "Not so fast- I've never seen these minutes until I read them on the internet- Bush never told me about it and you media people sure did not either...I trusted Bush- never again."

60. email list
may have some emails that are no longer active. Remeber put them in Bcc so as not appear as a mass email. If you email uses the semi-colon (;) than copy the list in word and do a find/replace on , with ;

Good luck!

I think its great that Kerry is getting on board with this but he is not the first senator to raise the issue. Carl Levin (D-MI) mentioned the Downing Street Minutes in his speech about the Bolton nomination on May 25.

Just this month, newspapers reported on leaked notes from a July 23, 2002, meeting of the British Prime Minister and his senior national security staff. According to the notes, the head of British foreign intelligence told Prime Minister Blair, seven months before the war, that “Bush wanted to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy.” Those are contemporaneous notes, prior to the war against Iraq. Such reports reinforce the view of much of the world that the administration shaped intelligence to serve policy purposes and that it strayed from the critical principle that intelligence must be objective, independent, and free from political influence

Read the speech here:
http://www.levin.senate.gov/senate/statement.cfm?id=238267

Also, I saw Jon Corzine (D-NJ) mention the minutes on "Hardball". I think it was the same day.

Hopefully, the corporate media will pay more attention to Kerry.

74. LET'S TRY SOMETHING NEW AGAINST THE RW ECHO CHAMBER THIS TIME
I for one will not be writing hundreds of emails to abc, cnn, faux news and every other media slug under the sun telling them that they've been fooled by the RW echo chamber yet again. This hasn't worked before, and I doubt it will work in this case. They don't care about a few hundred emails. They have a nation of people watching.

All politics is local. I intend to focus on my local media. local TV stations, local newspapers, local neighbors. I will get atleast three of my friends to call and write with me when this thing breaks, to correct their facts and tell them in no uncertain terms that they'd better get their story right if they intend to keep me as a viewer/reader. We have very little pull on the national scale. We have immensely more pull when it comes to our local media. It's all about the bottom line, so they'd better listen to us if they want our viewership.

So please, everyone, get your talking points ready. Recruit some friends to help you. Tell them that this could very well be the next Watergate if we play things right. Even if your all friends aren't that political, try and talk them into helping you this once. And be ready for the best/worst, because chance favors the prepared.

87. And when the media ignores him?
What is the next step?

The downing street memo is evidence of an impeachable offense. It is evidence of "high crimes and misdemeanors", it is evidence of treason.

When the media covers the jacko-jury instead, what will John do?

Here is what I think John should do: John should recognize that it is not time for business as usual. John Kerry, rightfully elected president of the united states, should call for all Democrats, all citizens of this country who now understand that this administration is an outlaw government, to march on washington and demand that justice be done.

It is time for a ukranian solution.

If everyone who signed the letter also wrote an LTE, people would not be able to ignore it so easily. I plan to write one over the weekend after I hear Kerry on this and how the media spins it if they cover it all.

the lies that brought on the Iraq War. It was produced before the 2004 election, but now with the Downing St Minutes finally cracking the stonewall, it takes on a new sense;

And ALSO, don't miss this 2 min VIDEO CLIP captured by our dzika and posted in a DU thread on May 13 - apparently before the order for the media blackout came down. Here you see the reaction that SHOULD have been there from the start after the Minutes were revealed: utter outrage:

123. thank you, JK
I spoke to my mother, who keeps reasonably well-informed...reads the paper, watches the news - over the weekend, and mentioned the DSM. She had no idea what I was talking about, and when I explained it she was shocked. Her first words were, "Then why aren't they impeaching Bush?" She immediately knew what the minutes represented, and how dangerous they are to the junta.

If Kerry can force media coverage of this, then more power to him. The fact that someone like my mom who makes a reasonable attempt to keep informed hadn't heard of this a month after the release speaks volumes about the criminal complicity of our corporate media.
