Who knows who escorted the Nixons to the helicopter on Resignation Day?
jon Stewart showed a good section of the clip last night (6/1) for the Moment of Zen.

There were a number of people there, and I think I saw Dick Cheney being one of the last people to speak to them before they boarded the copter.

Does anyone know if it was him? And if it wasn't, who was it?

1. I thought it was the Fords, his daughters and their
boyfriends/husbands.

2. They were there, but they weren't the only ones in the clip

There was quite a crowd on the lawn as they were getting into the copter.

I'm sure some of them were WH staff, and we know people like Cheney & Rummy were around then.

3. I Saw It...David Eisenhower...His Son In Law
Rummy and Chenney weren't players in the Nixon administration, they moved in during Ford.

The balding dude who said goodbye before Nixon gets on the chopper was David Eisenhower...his son-in-law.

I saw that live and seeing all that video (most times all you see is Nixon waiving from the copter) was a big flashback.

BTW...I met Rummy in 1969 in a visit to the Capitol...he was my Congressman at the time. Too bad I didn't snap a picture of me shaking hands with him like Saddam, but even in those days I couldn't stand Repugnicans.

4. Thank you! With the hair falling in his face, fawn jacket & glasses?
It was interesting seeing the full clip again, wasn't it? You're right; it's always just the final snippet. :hi:

5. The person that I remember standing by him
at the lowest point of his resignation....was his daughter! I was so impressed by her.
