Regarding impeachment, I know that with a Rethug House there
is little chance of this happening. However, I was wondering how bad things had to get before rethug reps had to consider it? Would there eventually be pressure from their constituents? When does common sense take over for "party loyalty"? Better yet, when does "a conscience" have priority over party loyalty?

Just wondering...

1. Good question. My guess is that they would not do anything unless there
was incontrovertible evidence that Bush broke the law, and that it can't be "spun". But I don't know how such evidence would be obtained unless we had another "deep throat".

3. That's my take as well
They would need to be pressured by the constituents, and that won't happen without a "smoking gun."

2. The WH has an iron grip...
on the press, on both houses, and even on some democrats.

Don't count on impeachment, it will not happen conscience or not. The republicans have a history of throwing each other under the bus for even the lightest issue, but they certainly have never had a history of losing their power base to what's intrinsically right.

4. republicans approached Nixon and asked him to resign
for the good of the country.

Dems had the House; we could have impeached him. He thought better of this country than the current Republicans do, who think NOTHING of impeaching a Dem president on a ginned up pretext, yet protect their own like the lying Nazi scumbags they are. They're all about personal power, and not about a democratic/republican coalition between Americans. They hate the liberal ideology of freedom of cchoice and lifestyle, and they want to use their phony morality to restrict us and keep us from the levers of power. They are UnAmerican and criminal.

5. I can't think of more than one Repug Congressman who would ever vote
to impeach a Repug president under any conceivable or inconceivable circumstances no matter the charges, no matter the compelling evidence. It just ain't ever gonna happen!

6. 06 starts now!
Give to the DNC, support every good Democratic candidate, find the vulnerable Reps and kick them out! THEN we will see an impeachment.

7. As I posted in another thread....

"Remember whom we are dealing with. Can you say that Rove-co will not bring heavy pressure onto the repubs in congress to block any impeachment motions? Can you say that it is inconceivable that such pressure might include threats to political life (as was done during the Medicare bill vote) or perhaps even threats against the physical/financial/social well being of members or their family? Threatened with loss of power is such a spectacular fashion; is it inconceivable that Rove-co/Petagon-co/Intel-co/BFEE would not resort to the sort of extreme measures that have been attributed to them on this forum?

Hoping that the repubs could be shamed into support is futile. You can expect that when presented with the choice of succumbing to shame pressure from the left, and the loss of everything a person has in this world from the coup-masters, the result is a foregone conclusion."

Now, if the internal threats can be alleviated, then progress can be made.

8. I believe the House GOP understood that Nixon's chances were slim
I remember hearing an interview with one such House Republican who was convinced, once he viewed the evidence, that Nixon did indeed commit "high crimes and misdemeanors." He conceded, along with many of his colleagues, that Nixon would be impeached. I believe he said this realization is what led to Nixon's resignation.

Of course, whether or not this GOP will show the same common sense and wisdom remains to be seen...

9. If more people knew about the WORLD TRIBUNAL at the end of this month...
We definitely should have more hope. Spread the word and watch closely. THIS IS THE ACE! This is the HOPE OF ALL HOPES!!! This IS the Neocon's "Nuremberg Trial"!!!

"The World Tribunal on Iraq is collecting a definitive body of evidence on the illegality of the invasion and occupation that will be indispensable to the global anti-war movement, to conscientious objectors, and to students of history for years to come. Americans who oppose the war have a duty to support and participate in this crucial international effort to stand up to U.S. government lawlessness and impunity."
