Reinstate the draft - game over! |
|
Folks - it is all very simple. The lesson that was learned in Viet Nam is that the American people will rebel and sometimes violently protest when they are required to put their life on the line or have their children do so. Especially for a war which is unpopular as is this one. The fundamental difference right now between the Iraq War and Vietnam is the lack of a draft, hence a lack of protest by the American people. Once the draft is reinstated, and it is coming soon, the whole landscape changes. Then you will see your friends and neigbors engaged in the anti-war effort. Trust me on this one. As Jerry Springer says so often, there is no buy-in to this war, no sacrifice (except for the unlucky ones who are now serving over there). Except for the grossly homogonized crap coming from the MSM, you wouldn't even know we were fighting a war. The rules of the game change when the draft starts pulling you and your kids into the conflict. Then the buyin is very real and very personal.
Now let me darn my tin-foil hat for just a moment and play a scenario that could very well happen. First Bushco knows that they cannot fight their pre-emptive wars with an all volunteer army. And they also know that when they re-instate the draft it will result in massive protest as indicated above. So how will they be able to convince the American people that the sacrifice is worth it? If you said launch another terrorist attack - ala 9-11, but worse, you win the prize. If you believe in LIHOP, stolen elections and a bogus preemptive war, then is it so far fetched to think this would not happen? The only way to get Americans to die for this country is to show them a real imminent threat. Pearl Harbor is a great example, but 9-11 comes a very close second. After 9-11, many of our brave young kids voluntarily enlisted to go over to Afghanistan to find and kill Bin Laden - because he was our enemy and he attacked us. Change the name and the country and you can do it all over again. Remember we are now fighting a war against terrorism, and terrorists are every where, so we are told. I really hate to be thinking this way because it sounds so damn conspiratorial. But given what we here all know, how could one not possibly think that way?

Go back over the statements this administration has made in reference to a draft. In each and every instance, there has been a qualifier in place (i.e., "combat draft").
Now, have you noticed how many "jobs" the different military branches currently have available? Most are technical or linguistical positions. As more and more of the "voluntary" military is shipped overseas, more and more civilians are needed to fill jobs on this side of the pond. (Not to mention it helps the job forecast.)
A large portion of the Selective Service budget was toward efficiency for their medical database. There was also intent to begin a technical and linguistic skills database.
When it comes down the pipe, it won't be a "combat draft" but a call to freedom loving Americans to put their skills to work for the good ole US of A.

When the draft first comes around, it will be for civilians to fill the positions made vacant by the 'volunteers' heading off overseas. Only as those 'volunteers' die in the line of duty will the civilians be moved outside of our own borders. By then, it will be too late.
It will be sold to the American people as a non-combat draft (or maybe even some sort of mandatory civil service). If the economy continues its trend, people are going to need jobs. It is highly likely that the American people will even see it as a godsend.
It simply fits into everything else like a missing puzzle piece. Consider: The US is running on economical fumes. The deficits have been categorized as "unsustainable" for weeks now. The GOP have had their targets on dismembering the New Deal since it began. The budgets put forth by the current administration continue cuts for humanitarian programs (except those founded as part of the faith-based initiative). The safety net is disintegrating. When the time is right, those in power will be able to pass a non-combat draft without a peep.

6. High price to get our country back |
|
My son is 19 and my daughter is 21. They both voted for Kerry. My daughter is moving to London in the fall.
The thought of the draft chills my blood. When I think of all my son's friends aged between 18 & 21 who could be drafted it breaks my heart. I've known some of these boys since elementary school. They are not soldier material. They play video games and read comics. What are they thinking? When ever I see a bush sticker on a vehicle driven by a male of military age I get so angry I want to spit on it.

The Republicans aren't stupid, and aren't about to hand us this issue. Only Democrats are talking about it. It seems to be oour next election strategy. It will fail.

10. So how do they staff the military |
|
Surely you can't believe it is going to be done with volunteers. The number of recruits is dropping like a rock. Eventually, the reservists will have to be released. They cannot keep them on duty indefinitely. Bottom line, is Bushco has no choice. The DRAFT IS COMING! Knowing it is going to be a hellaciously tough sell what do the Repukes do? Without a compelling reason behind it, they risk political life and limb. So what will be the compelling reason. Use your imagination!

will cut back on the imperialism. Unlike most Democrats, at least on DU, the Republicans will ditch a losing issue when it begins to hurt them.
There will be no draft.

9. Attack on June 11, hence 6/11? |
|
Tin foil hat required but, 9/11 New York 3/11 Madrid Train Bombing Given that Scott Ritter was convinced that we would be invading another country in June, it seems plausible. 6/11 another attack, Stranger things have happened, especially recently.

hearing it from many people who have contacts inside
Look it is coming and when it comes it will surprsie the living daylighst out of them muricans that are not yet payuing attention. This will also lead to mobilization, but not early on. Nam took eight years, this I predict will take from two to three... but riots early on, no way, no how...
The timing, sooner than yuo think, why the stories about them missing recruitment numbers... but NOT during the school year...
