Eerie message for Star Wars Ep. III about the Bush era |
|
I recently saw Star Wars Ep. III and I heard a scary message:
In the scene the Chancellor declares the Republic becomes the new Galactic Empire, Padme quotes "This is how liberty ends... with thunderous applause"
Reminds me of America if George Bush has his way.

1. It's the line of the century. Aren't the parallels spooky? |

The reality of the Bush administration is far more wretched and dangerous.
Don't you agree?

The poster's just pointing out an eerie coincidence--if it is in fact a coincidence. There's a lot of stuff in ROTS (and TPM and ATOC) that amount to an "eerie coincidence" in relation to what's going on these days. Lefties and Righties have been fighting over them constantly since the ROTS's release.
Other movies have there own little quirks. In "The Incredibles," the villain arranges an attack on a major US city so that he can swoop in and "come to our rescue." He intends to use the subsequent worship of the populace (or "spend his political capital," or "exercise his mandate," if you like) to remake the world as he sees fit.
Intentional? Probably not, given how much production time the Pixar movie required.
Nevertheless: these "coincidences" are good tools, and we should be using them--not dismissing them. One can go on and on about PNAC and stolen elections, and people just shrug or yawn and continue watching FOX News. As awful as the latest three "Star Wars" movies are, the Emperor's rise to power has been a perfect illustration of what we've been talking about, and millions of people have watched it with fascination.

I saw the first SW movie when I was 16 and the most recent one was by far the most enjoyable since the original. This movie is George Lucas' message to w*, and its loud and clear.

this is truly a case of if the shoe fits, wear it
This screen play was written in the late 1990s, and the whole Star Wars Saga was outlined in the 70s...

11. Lines like these can be added or changed on the fly |
|
When making a movie. I do believe some of these lines were added in to make a political point about the times we live in.

10. There is alot of coincidences between Episode 3 and the Bush era |
|
as somewhat of a star wars geek I have to admit it,but it's only because to us, and other like minded people, we see parallels between the villians in the Star Wars saga, and the everyday villians we see in the politicans and talking heads we have come to lothe, since the radical right has taken power. Both the villians in the Star Wars saga are alot like our villians when it comes to alot of their actions..this is just human nature at it's worse. But they are not the same, I mean for one thing, is that the fictitious villians tend to be more competence and have more integrity, than our real life villians.
