CALLING HEROES: George McGovern calls for a modern-day "Deep Throat"!
Edited on Thu Jun-02-05 06:54 PM by Bluebear

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US media needs a modern-day "Deep Throat" within the administration of President George W. Bush to reveal how America was "misled" on Iraq, former presidential contender George McGovern said.

"We need someone like that who is highly placed to tell us what's really going on. We know that we were misled on Iraq," McGovern told Fox News Radio....

"This war in Iraq, in my opinion is worse than anything Nixon did. I think Nixon deserved to be expelled from office in view of the cover-up that he carried on and the laws that he violated. But we have an administration in power now that led us to a war that is internationally illegal; it's a war that we are fighting with a country that has no threat to us that has nothing to do with the 9-11 attacks.

McGovern said Nixon was undoubtedly "tricky," but said of Bush: "This man claims to be Christian, following the will of God, and then he misleads the whole nation on a totally fraudulent enterprise in Iraq that we should have never been attached to."

That man flew 38 missions in a B-24 Liberator bomber in WW2
38 missions is unheard of--most pilots rotated home after 20.

Not friggn George though--

2. McGovern is a wise veteran politician, but not one supporter/true-believer
will buy into his take on Iraq. EOS

3. I think all the evidence is easily found -- the press is not interested...
in getting on the bad side of the Bush cabal, or in courage.

8. The truth gets told over and over. But the press and elites don't care.
That's the scandal. Not just what's being done, but that exposing it leads to nothing.

4. George McGovern has been very quiet for the last 30 years....
...I don't believe he has even come out on any issue since Bush II first stole the presidency. I'm glad he has found an issue that he feels he can speak out on now.

5. I'm almost getting goosebumps!
He so hit the nail on the head! Unfortunately, this administration will never have a Deep Throat, because The Moron has done such a brilliant job of placing loyalty to himself about what is best for the American people.

He doesn't allow dissent in his administration.

14. Read McGovern's latest book
"The Essential America : Our Founders and the Liberal Tradition":
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743269276/qid=1117758653/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/103-2598121-1974264?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

Very short, and very worthwhile indeed. I was inspired to buy it after hearing the Franken Show interview with him.

McGovern is a great patriot with loads of integrity, and I'm pleased to see him speaking the truth yet again.

15. Too bad the hero would need someone in the corporate media to listen
Otherwise they'd get too easily ignored/discredited. That's the problem with our media today.

16. I remember that campaign well.
McGovern was the polar opposite of these NeoCons in Washington today.

He wanted to end the Vietnam War (they used to call it the Vietnam Conflict since war was never officially declared), cut defense spending and help the American people. He advocated a Guaranteed Minimum Income. http://www.answers.com/topic/guaranteed-minimum-income

He was soundly defeated by Nixon.

17. RHT (real human tears),...
,...

Please, don't let these freaks destroy the dreams that made America a great nation.

The "freaks" are greedy corporacrats who hooked up with radical Christian crusaders. The "freaks" do NOT deserve to be given the attention to pull this country into oblivion, into anything less than the hope of "democracy".

Squash those who would destroy this country. Please. Please. Don't let the inventions of human potential be given a death sentence by this cabal of economic cannibals. Please!!!!

18. no, we DON'T need another "deep throat"
deep throat provided deep background. he told woodward and bernstein to follow the money, he told them that this stuff went all the way to nixon's inner circle.

THAT stuff we already know!

what we need are the PRIMARY sources to leak the hard evidence, not someone to give general background and confirmation.

come to think of it, we've got THOSE, TOO.

what we need is a media that will cover this administration objectively rather than as completely corrupted sycophants.

19. There are "deep throats" all over the place!
The media will not take them seriously, and give their stories prominence.

Its not for lack of evidence that Bush has not been impeached already.
