Why is Kerry talking about DSM now? |
|
The Downing Street Minutes has been out a good couple weeks now. When this first came out a lot of people, including myself, was wondering why our democratic Senators with the big popular names weren't talking about it. Then I come on DU today and read how Kerry is talking about the minutes and saying when he gets back to Washington he's going to talk about it more. We all know Kerry was involved in BCCI and Iran/Contra and has dealt with the Bush people before and knows them and their ways. I wonder why is he talking about the minutes now? Why not in the beginning? Is there something going on we don't know about? I know pretty soon in the upcoming weeks members of Congress are supposed to go to Britian to talk to Blair about it and question him. After Bush denying him aide for Africa do you think Blair will talk to get some revenge on making him (Blair) look like a fool to his country? Well he did do that himself but y'know what I mean. I've always had this feeling if one of them is pressured enough and goes down then they all will go down and lead up to Bush and he will be blamed for everything (him and Cheney). I've learned in politics that timing is everything. So why now? Oh and also the members who are going to Britian from Congress are they all democratic or are some republicans going too? Thanks!

4. I will float this theory... |

Perhaps Kerry is as in the dark as the rest of America? This information not being in the media, and all... I know you'd hope they'd be minding international press, but there has not been such an event before.

9. i agree with you. over the last year, all the stuff |
|
that has come out, i have been incredulous that our senators are finding out about things well beyond du. and they are getting the information from constituents. i had expected otherwise, but michael moore movie clue me in at some point. i dont remember what. what i am hoping is these people get more confident in the net, and listening to the people. i know that was a big thing on jan 6 and the boxer event. she only came thru because du and other places were bombarding her with information. she found out from us. the others followed her, because of us.

he said "it isn't quiet on the internet, that's for sure." So he knew about it obviously. So why now?

i think there has been such a cry about it, such an obvious that mainstream media is not promoting it. that it is a battle well worth fighting.

I've bitched and moaned about Kerry not speaking out- now he is.
I'm very happy Kerry has promised to back us up- and I'm with holding criticism unless he breaks his promise to look into this.
I hope Dean, Hillary, Reid, Obama, etc follow his lead.

I'm waiting too. I hope it's not another disappointment. *sigh* There have been so many lately. I hope once Kerry gets back to DC he can get everybody in the party on board. That would be nice to see them demanding information about it and to talk about it on the floor in the Senate and Congress.

This is a big story. They don't want to get 'Roved' on this one.
I think they have spent time getting coroberating sources on this, to make sure they weren't set up.
Thats the only explanation for this eerie silence...if anything, they are probably pissed at Conyers that he is blowing the load so early...

I think also that Kerry tends to do a slow burn. He finally reached a boiling point. He's been doing that quite a bit lately. I love it when he gets pissed.

16. I don't believe any posts that claim that our 'leaders' are not up to date |
|
on what is going on. There must be a lot of volunteer interns who could study DU and other sites on behalf of the Senators and COngresspeople - and feed it all back, including the reactions.
That is why I am perpetually angry with Shumer, Clinton, Kerry, Edwards and all the others about giving PNAC the green light on Iraq. They claim it was to go to the UN, but nearly everyone on DU knew the UN was a fraud of a manuever by PNAC and they KNEW IT AT THE TIME IS WAS GOING DOWN. They knew it was lies because we had enough experts telling us there that nothing had been found - way back then.

18. From time to time, I HAVE to do a "don't know, don't care, just grateful!" |
|
Besides, how the fuck could I possibly be so big as to have the capacity to connect everything? *LOL* I'm not that big and I know no one is that big.
Oh, how we all wish we could leash tomorrow,...but, we can't. We can only take action in the moment and live with that decision, for better or worse.

20. Political Timing And Top Secret Clearance |
|
As a senior Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Kerry has top secret clearance. That doesn't mean that he always receives all of the information but it does mean that he's qualified to read most of it.
He has spent most of his political capital on his Kids First legislation and trying to block committee approval of Bolton. For him to try to tap the well again, his strategy must be perfectly crafted. That takes time and money.
At the same time, I suspect that he really thought that the White House would answer Congressman Conyers' letter on the matter. When it comes to treason, Kerry still believes that the White House will do the right thing. He's naïve in that respect.
