Our friend John Conyers seems to pop up everyday ready, willing and doing his best to help the cause of democracy. No sooner do we announce something here than I hear that Conyers is jumping right on it! I can only imagine the pressure he is being put under for his spotlight on the Downing Street Minutes. Yet, HE NEVER BACKS DOWN.

And NEITHER SHOULD WE.

So, today I look at his website, www.johnconyers.com and see this:

Please help me get to the bottom of the Downing Street Memo and other Administration scandals so that we can restore trust in our government. Your donation will help ensure I get my message across in the face of strong Republican opposition, and get re-elected.

I realize you are being asked to donate every other day to one Democratic cause or another -- but wouldn't it be nice if we sent a message LOUD and CLEAR that DU is 100% behind him in the biggest way. I can only imagine the smile on is face when he realizes the extent of our support. Let's embolden HIM for a change... give HIM a tremendous boost. Let's show him that good people are standing right next to him.

Our strength could only serve to embolden him to even greater heights.

this petition I began after reading about Conyer's initial letter to Bush- I think a petion just from regular folks is also still a good idea- it can't hurt, so please consider signing this related petition. I plan to distribute copies of the open letter in WDC next week, and send to President. I am going to Washington DC. on June 9th and 10th as part of The Verified Voting Lobby Days to support the Rush Holt bill.

We the people, have a right to know the truth.

We want you to answer the questions by the Hon. Rep. Conyers and 89 other members of congress, concerning the Blair/ Downing Street memo, your plans for the invasion of Iraq, and the actions you took to distort information, in order to advance your preconceived agenda.

We want to know why Scott McClellan your press secretary, blamed Newsweek magazine, for the actions of policemen in Iraq shooting and killing 15(+) protesters. Military officials appear to refute your claims, that a statement in the magazine referring to an investigation, of possible disrespect, and inappropriate behavior of an interrogator resulted in this violence.

We want to know who planned this course of action, apparently to further intimidate our media. As a democracy a free and non-partisan media is critical.

We further implore you to encourage unencumbered, investigations into the anomalies of the 2004 presidential elections. Please allow the investigators to examine the vast amount of documentation by voter's rights groups and University professors.

26. I'll never forget that John Conyers pulled me from deep despair

after the election by taking up election fraud. Everything seemed so hopeless before then.

I remember seeing his letter, wiping away tears, sitting up straight and thinking: Is this for real? Is there really a Congressman who is breaking the wall of silence? He is one of us!
