I think its time we started applying labels to the republicans. |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 05:29 AM by cornermouse
Words like irresponsible, greedy, corrupt, cruel, calloused.
I don't think its enough to simply recognize them for what they are. We need to identify them; use the words that other voters may be thinking but are unwilling to look at closely and may be more than happy to forget a few years from now.

and ignorant while we're at it. When I see someone sporting one of those W04 stickers on their vehicle I assume the driver is either anti democracy, anti republic philosophically speaking or under the spell of a mythic belief system or suffering from cognitive dissonance - or worse.
I mean if someone is going to proclaim allegiance to a con artist and crook like the Chimp in public , then we want to give them a wide berth. "W" has become a scarlet letter in my books.

6. "W" has becomea scarlet letter - that is a good slogan. We need T-shirts |
|
and other stuff that have a big scarlet (red) "W" on it, and that slogen written under it.

4. I think its time that we decide what the Democratic Party stands FOR... |
|
...and start proposing an agenda to be presented at the mid-term elections. We haven't done it in a looong time. We haven't done well in elections during the same period.

But its clear that the democratic party needs to remind the voters of what's wrong with the republicans as well as what's right with the democrats. Democrats, as a party, and other than Clinton, haven't really fought back for a long time.
We need to present a complete picture. Things are getting pretty bad and I don't think just presenting a positive picture of the democrats will do the job with anyone other than democrats. We need to point out what the republicans are doing is wrong. We need to use labels to make it stick in people's heads when they get ready to vote.

10. We haven't presented a positive agenda in years. |
|
Attacking the platform of the Republicans is fine. But do it rationally not emotionally (as the thread appears to be going), and offer a solid alternative whenever you do.

16. I sometimes wonder if just saying we are not about fear and greed |
|
would not help in some way. How about honesty, fairness and courage instead of the Republican view of the world ? This is a really good question, tx_dem.

That those words aren't what you really mean. Though I know typing out bad words is the wrong thing to do. Many of them are evil incarnate, especially those blind preachers acting like they have a direct line somewhere. If they only knew whose side they were really on. Or, maybe they do.

14. STOP saying "conversatives" for starters, |
|
they are the least conservative people on the planet. Call them what they are "right-wing radicals". We have got to stop being so afraid of speaking up for ourselves -- that's what these radicals are trying to get us to do and they are succeeding.

I've been calling the Bush cabal "fascist pigs" for at least two years and, as a Tenneseean, I've already labeled Frist as the "anti-Christ," a "whack job," "a right-wing nut bag" and an assortment of other demeaning terms since he's been in office.
