Because the tendency of gullibility is so common in humans; those who
believe in religious myths think that they have the high ground. Science is chopping away at their dogma and causing them to be drug kicking and screaming toward reality. See the new info on fruit fly's sexual orientation being affected by a single gene. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/06/03/science/03cell.html?th&emc=th

1. That was a fascinating article.
But of course, you know those fruit flies were *choosing* to be gay, right?

;)

2. Won't work
Fundies are so hard set, Deity itself couldn't change them. It's not based on evidence, it's all on faith and that is all that is needed. Faith, or magical thinking in fundie cases, is old hat already. Wish I had a time machine and go back to the 90's.

3. Wish I had a time machine to go ahead to 2009.
Maybe by then, Millennium fever will be in death throes. (Actually it will probably still be going on to 2030 or beyond. :eyes: )

5. Do you mean that a more reciprocal respect would help?
The problem with that IMO is that the view of one side or the other has their view anchored in BS and that side will inevitably give ground to truth and truth is on the side of science. Yeah I know it's a very slow process, but a mind is a terrible thing to waste. I believe that the nations of the world that can wrap their youth in scientific truth will prosper the others will lose out. To me this means Bush hates progress.
