"Oil Storm" on FX Sunday at 8 Eastern. Has anyone seen this?
(They're showing "Fight Club" on FX and erm, I can't ever resist that movie, so I happened to have it on.)

Anyway, I just saw a commercial for a movie called "Oil Storm" that is going to be on FX this Sunday at 8 Eastern.

It seemed to address Peak Oil in a big way. Some quotes were "Americans didn't realize how fragile their existance was" and "We need to go COLD TURKEY on our addiction to oil!"

That gave me chills. Here's a site about it:

http://www.fxnetworks.com/shows/originals/oilstorm/main.html

Think it'll be more MSM propaganda and includes a nice neat happy ending tied up with a pretty bow, or will it get people to think and talk about our dependence on oil?

Or both?

2. I don't know, I hope not.
But it could very well be.

On the website, the synopsis won't load for me.

3. If there were sensible people in charge
we would be hearing about alternatives, lifestyle changes, etc.

With Bush & Co. - it's an excuse for more wars.

4. I found a Peak Oil forum and this is what someone
named MicroHydro had to say (three paragraphs):

"Folks, you do realize that FX is a channel of Fox entertainment which is the same company that owns Fox news which is the US ruling party propaganda outlet?

My interpretation is that in a way, Bush/Cheney and the neocons are finally coming clean about what they have really been up to since Matt Simmons met with them before the 2000 selection. "See, we were taking care of your energy security all along, but thought you couldn't handle the truth." They no longer even bother to talk about Bin Laden or Saddam. The color codes have vanished, no longer effective in provoking mass fear. They need a draft but with Bush's approval rating at 43%, the time is not right.

So it is time to scare the sheeple with a fable about decades worth of Long Emergency problems happening in a few days. (That is similar to "The Day After Tomorrow" which compressed 10,000 years of climate change into a few days for dramatic effect.) Pretty soon folks in the exurbs will be putting black Bring the Oil Home! magnetic ribbons on their SUVs and waving the flag in support of invasion of Iran and Venezuela."

9. Thank you. I watched the Day After Tomorrow again this weekend
and noticed how all the "news" in that movie was FAUX. I guess it's the whole corporate/fear mongering thing, that FAUX is so good at.

Should still be interesting to see.
