FIXING THE MILITARY RECRUITING GOAL SHORTAGE!
DoD assumes responsibility for releasing recruiting stats
Individual services no longer authorized to announce numbers at beginning of the month

By Laura Bailey
Times staff writer

The Army and Marine Corps, as they struggle with recruiting shortfalls, will no longer announce their monthly recruiting numbers at the beginning of each month.

Instead, the Defense Department will approve the release of recruiting statistics for all four services. "

1. If only a small percentage of W's supporters would offer their own to the
military service, there would be no recruiting shortfalls.

2. Why do you think fast food jobs are now "manufacturing jobs"?
Boy, the WH really knows how to slap lipstick on a pig.

4. I'm doing my part
I'm sending the name and contact info of a republican to his local recruiter. He says he tried to enlist a few years ago but they wouldn't take him because of anti-depressants, but he really wants to serve. Maybe they can work something out for him!

5. Another example of hiding numbers.
"U.S. eliminates annual terrorism report

By Jonathan S. Landay

WASHINGTON — The State Department decided to stop publishing an annual report on international terrorism after the government's top terrorism center concluded that there were more terrorist attacks in 2004 than in any year since 1985, the first year the publication covered. "

Quote :
"Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's office ordered the report, "Patterns of Global Terrorism," eliminated weeks ago because the 2004 statistics raised disturbing questions about the Bush's administration's frequent claims of progress in the war against terrorism."

Quote :
"National Counterterrorism Center provided to the State Department reported 625 "significant" terrorist attacks in 2004. That compared with 175 such incidents in 2003, the highest number in two decades."

Quote :
"The statistics didn't include attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq, which President Bush as recently as Tuesday called "a central front in the war on terror.""

6. Won't help the line units.
I see four possibilities:

1. The military reclassifies thousands and thousands of remfs to be grunts. This hurts the support mission by draining support units of troops. It also kills retention. This has already happened to some extent.

2. Scale back military operations. Drastically.

3. A draft. After a massive propaganda blitz. Maybe even a sham attack that will "change everything." I'm not a MIHOP believer but they could exaggerate some little incident into a sham major attack (see Reichstag, Germany, 1933).

4. Doubling military pay. It would have to be a 100% increase to make a big enough difference.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think 2 and 3 are most probable. If we scale back operations, it will be US troops used mainly to guard the pipelines ("the spice must flow!"). Iraq will devolve into chaos and civil war (worse than already).

A draft is also possible because the neocons might feel invincible with all three branches and the media under their control.

Just my $0.02 worth.
