They know who Luis Posada Cerrilles is in Manila
http://www.khaleejtimes.com/index00.asp

Protesters burn a mock American flag with the photo of American Luis Posada Cerrilles during a brief rally outside the US Embassy in Manila on Friday to demand his extradition from the US to Venezuela. The protesters are outraged over the United States' tolerance of Cerrilles for his alleged role in bombings in Cuba, prominent of which was the 1976 bombing of Cuban Airlines. - AP

1. They know Posada Carriles in El Salvador.
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 09:34 PM by Octafish
The guy was running Oliver North's Drugs Inc for the contras. Real nice fellah.

The author was then a DEA chief working in Central America who reported seeing all this. He was told the operation had White House approval.

A made in USA terrorist: Luis Posada Carriles

By Celerino "Cele" Castillo III
Online Journal Guest Writer

May 19, 2005—For over a century, our government has made sure that we are never to be told the truth about anything that we have done to other people in Third World countries, especially in Latin America.

With the creation of the School of the Americas, a breeding ground for assassins, and the death squads, we became the greatest human rights violators in the world.

We have become the most hated country in the world, not because we practice democracy or value our freedom. We are hated because our government denies these basic principles to these people. The hate has come back to haunt us in the form of terrorism, and, as they say, "the chickens have come home to roost with our own American-made terrorist, Luis Posada Carriles.

When I was posted in Central America, as a DEA agent, I saw Luis Posada and Felix Rodriguez, another American-made terrorist, at Illopango airport base in El Salvador. Joining them was a CIA asset, Venezuelan advisor Victor Rivera. They had become part of what was known as a CIA apparatus that did not have to answer to anyone. They were involved in drug trafficking, kidnapping, and the training of the death squads.

It was also at the height of the Iran-Contra investigation when I had documented these atrocities to my government. I could not understand how our government had assisted in having Posada escape from a Venezuelan prison, and then placing him at Illopango airport as a CIA asset, under the new name of Ramon Medina. He was now working hand in hand with then U. S. Lt. Col. Oliver North.

The terrorist George Bush wants to protect

By Alan Maass
May 20, 2005, 20:05

“ANY NATION that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime,” George Bush told Congress after the September 11, 2001, attacks. Unless, that is, the “regime” in question is the U.S. government itself.

The U.S. is currently harboring one of the world’s most deadly terrorists--anti-Castro Cuban exile Luis Posada Carriles. And the Bush administration shows no signs of bringing him to justice.

Posada is the chief suspect in the 1976 mid-air bombing of a Cuban commercial airliner that killed 73 people. But that is only one in a long list of Posada’s terrorist atrocities--many of them carried out in operations supported by the U.S. government.

SNIP...

Declassified documents confirm that Posada was on the CIA payroll for much of the 1960s and early 1970s, following the failure of the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion to overthrow Castro. In the late 1960s, Posada relocated to Venezuela, where he was a senior officer for the country’s fanatically anti-communist spy agency, known by the initials DISIP.

Through his ongoing connections to DISIP, Posada was involved in the shadowy network of terrorists and thugs that carried out the notorious Operation Condor--a CIA-approved assassination spree against left-wing figures throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Posada was present at the June 1976 meeting in the Dominican Republic where two of Condor’s most notorious killings were planned--the Air Cubana bombing and the murder of Chile’s former foreign minister Orlando Letelier. Letelier was a leading figure in the left-wing government overthrown in a 1973 military coup led by Gen. Augusto Pinochet, with the cooperation of the Nixon White House. Letelier was blown up along with his American aide, Ronnie Moffit, in a car bombing in Washington, D.C. in September 1976.

3. They know who Luis Posada Cerrilles is in Barbados & Trinidad
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 10:10 PM by JohnyCanuck
It was in Barbados where his two fellow terror....er, "freedom flighters" got off the Cubana flight leaving the bomb on board which blew up shortly after takeoff causing the plane to crash into the ocean as it attempted to make it back to the airport killing the 73 civilians on board.

The Prince of terrorists, Posada Carriles, achieved world status in 1976 by directing the sabotage of a Cuban commercial airliner over Barbados. Shortly after taking off from Barbados International Airport, the bomb exploded on board, the plane plunged into the sea and all 73 passengers and crew members died. Posada denied involvement, but police nabbed two of the plotters who identified Posada as the man who hired them to place the bomb on the plane before they disembarked in Barbados.

Posada's wife told a Venezuelan journalist of her mate's emotions. "When he started with the Barbados affair, I knew he would be successful because the 'poor guy' had dedicated so much effort, with so much passion" (We Placed the Bomb and So What, by Alicia Herrera).

http://www.counterpunch.org/landau09112004.html

Because of the fact they were the only persons who were on the plane and left it before the sabotage - they were without luggage, they immediately tried to book on a flight back to the place where they had come - they became very suspicious to the Barbadian authorities. They informed the Trinidadians and the Trinadians arrested them practically upon arrival to Port-of-Spain.
And the investigation begun. As a matter of fact, two parallel investigation. One by the Barbadian authorities who, according to the international law, had the duty to determine what has happened with a civilian airplane that had exploded almost over their territory. And another investigation by the Trinidadians, around these two individuals that they had captured on their soil.

It is very important because some key elements appear, on both investigations, in an independent and separated manner.

The Barbadians found that while they were in Bridgetown, in the very short time that they spent at a hotel, they only made phone calls to Caracas. In those days, there were no cell phones, you had to ask an operator who helped you. Then the Barbadian hotel had the receipts, the records of who called whom, at what time, the day and so on. There were phone calls to Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch, with two different numbers in Caracas.

Span of Operation Condor Reached Dominican Republic

by Prensa Latina
Posted: Jun 1, 2005 20:24 UTC

HAVANA (PL) - The span of Operation Condor, a massive terrorist operation set up by the US during the 70s to eliminate progressive forces, reached the Dominican Republic, said Attorney Ramon Antonio Veras.

SNIP...

The US intelligence recently declassified documents on Posada Carriles" case: "the data revealed that the 1976 mid-flight blast of a Cuban airliner and the murder of Former Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier were part of the Condor Operation plotted in the Dominican Republic".

It is known today that the true masterminds were Chile"s DINA, Venezuela"s DISIP, and the CIA (US), along with the military dictatorships of Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil and Bolivia plus the counterrevolutionaries of Cuban origin".

The Professor of Law said the Operation extended beyond the borders of the above mentioned countries, since its horrible goals were mostly achieved.

On Posada Carrile"s indictment, Veras called it "necessary and useful" to restore true and democratic order. "Posada"s case will give the public information concealed by the corporate media: the US hypocrite and parroted democracy built on thousands of corpses."

6. He was trained to kill pro-Castro Cubans by the CIA.
Posada Carriles wanted to kill people who supported Castro, like teen-agers who were on the Cuban national fencing team.

A BOMBERS TALE:

Taking Aim at Castro; Key Cuba Foe Claims Exiles' Backing

DATELINE: MIAMI

SECTION: Section 1; Page 1; Column 1; Foreign Desk

A Cuban exile who has waged a campaign of bombings and assassination attempts aimed at toppling Fidel Castro says that his efforts were supported financially for more than a decade by the Cuban-American leaders of one of America's most influential lobbying groups.

The exile, Luis Posada Carriles, said he organized a wave of bombings in Cuba last year at hotels, restaurants and discotheques, killing an Italian tourist and alarming the Cuban Government. Mr. Posada was schooled in demolition and guerrilla warfare by the Central Intelligence Agency in the 1960's.

In a series of tape-recorded interviews at a walled Caribbean compound, Mr. Posada said the hotel bombings and other operations had been supported by leaders of the Cuban-American National Foundation. Its founder and head, Jorge Mas Canosa, who died last year, was embraced at the White House by Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton.

Foundation leaders did not respond to repeated telephone calls and letters requesting an interview to discuss their relationship with Mr. Posada. But in a brief statement faxed to The New York Times, the group denied a role in his operations, saying "any allegation, implication, or suggestion that members of the Cuban American National Foundation have financed any alleged 'acts of violence' against the Castro regime are totally and patently false."

SNIP...

Jailed for one of the most infamous anti-Cuban attacks, the 1976 bombing of a civilian Cubana airliner, he eventually escaped from a Venezuelan prison to join the centerpiece of the Reagan White House's anti-Communist crusade in the Western Hemisphere: Lieut. Col. Oliver L. North's clandestine effort to supply arms to Nicaraguan contras.

7. They know Posada Carriles in Mexico.

Luis Posada Carriles used Mexico as a Trampoline to Miami

Havana, June 4 (RHC)-- Investigations corroborate President Fidel Castro´s repeated denunciations that international terrorist Luis Posada Carriles used Mexican territory as a trampoline on route to Miami.

According to AIN News Agency Mexican journalist Renan Castro Madera, who writes for the popular "Por Esto" newspaper in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo said that Posada used the Santrina shrimp boat in the Mexican locality of Islas Mujeres on his way to Miami. He said a deeper probe into the case revealed that Posada was assisted by Cuban Americans with criminal records in Cancun.

The Mexican journalist said that Posada Carriles never stayed in any Quintana Roo hotel but he received the protection of a group of Cuban Americans. Renen Castro had interviewed people in the locality on Posada's stay in Mexico.

The Mexican journalist is currently participating in the International Meeting against Terrorism, for Truth and Justice underway in Havana and where over 300 delegates have reiterated their condemnation of over 40 years of US state terrorism against Cuba.

Luis Posada Carriles told the US immigration office that he had entered US territory by land, reiterated in several occasions by his accomplice Santiago Alvarez.
