Poll question: Which MSM might realistically break ranks? First?
Of the big names in News...the ones that the masses actually consume on a regular basis, who's at all, or most likely to break ranks with the neocons and begin swing back to the left side of the dial? I suspect if one actually does, that at least some others would follow. But are any actually likely to do so? Is there enough money, or power on our side to ever make that attractive?

I'm not sure they are not salvageable after all.

And I like the sig line... where's it from?

4. Arundhati Roy
She uses it in Power Politics.

I ran out of room...but I also wonder if I should have included the BBC on the list. The BBC could, if they chose, stir up enough international attention that it might penetrate...or maybe that's just more of my wishful thinking.

2. Hopefully Peter Jennings will recover and come back with a vengeance
Or Ted Turner might buy back CNN. Those are the only two scenarios I can see for any existing network to have hope at all, and the odds of a new liberal news channel are even slimmer than that (and if it DID exist would probably only be available on high end digital cable systems. The Murdoch controlled Direct TV probably wouldn't touch it.

3. MSM is dying
Save us: Vanity Fair, Toledo Blade, MinnStar, a new internet news consortium. A new national democratic/progressive news media.

6. I think CBS
the staff must be furious at what happened. I think they may try to redeem their organization with some hard hitting pieces.

What can I say, I'm an optimist.

7. Putting my money on the WP
Might as well be optimistic that the Washington Post, freshly reminded of their own glorious history, might rise again.

It was either that or the last choice (no hope, their souls have been sold).

Your comments are funny.

9. Rather is far, far from finished with Bu$h and the neoconsters, imho.
Peace.

Emad Hajjaj, Al-Ghad Newspaper, Amman, Jordan

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - How ever long it takes, the day must come when tens of millions of caring individuals peacefully but persistently defy the dictator, deny the corporatists cash flow, and halt the evil being done in Iraq, and in all the other places the Bu$h neoconster regime is destroying civilization and the environment in the name of "America."

10. Could very well be the
smaller papers and more local news programs. These may not have so much control by the heirarchy and once the people start hearing it there maybe they will realize how truly duped they have been. Just a thought. And a hope because I can't see the large ones taking any risks of retaliation at this point.

11. I keep having this illusion about some Editor somewhere
half drunk, late at night...smoking a cigar...a very Lou Grant kinda guy. Anyway he's been badgered and badgered by a cub reporter to put the BIG STORY on the FRONT PAGE...and finally...because he is sick at heart, and half drunk...he says "Ok damnit...Run it page 1"

And the whole house of cards begins to tumble down.

I think the tide will change because even though the Government and Corporations are giant, greedy, impersonal parasites...there are still real live, human people around who can gum up the works by simple, flawed acts of consciousness.

I'm feeling optimistic today :D
