Newsweek sure had that Koran story wrong!
It wasn't flushed down the toilet, Dummies! It was only urinated on!

Where's Scott (Buttboy) McClellan now? Perhaps he should resign to save whatever shred of dignity he has remaining.

WASHINGTON - U.S. military officials say no guard at the Guantanamo Bay prison for terror suspects flushed a detainee's Quran down the toilet, but they disclosed that a Muslim holy book was splashed with urine. In other newly disclosed incidents, a detainee's Quran was deliberately kicked and another's was stepped on.

On March 25, a detainee complained to guards that "urine came through an air vent" and splashed on him and his Quran. A guard admitted he was at fault, but a report released Friday evening offering new details about Quran mishandling incidents did not make clear whether the guard intended the result.

In another confirmed incident, water balloons thrown by prison guards caused an unspecified number of Qurans to get wet, and in a confirmed but ambiguous case, a two-word obscenity was written in English on the inside cover of a Quran.

The findings, released after normal business hours Friday evening and after the major TV networks had aired their evening news programs, are among the results of an investigation last month by Brig. Gen. Jay Hood, the commander of the detention center in Cuba. A Newsweek magazine report — later retracted — that a U.S. soldier had flushed one Guantanamo Bay detainee's Quran down a toilet triggered the investigation.

So what was this asshole's excuse for pissing in an air vent?

No wonder the world hates America.

3. This is the dumbest controversy Ive ever heard of.
A book getting stepped on, kicked, getting wet, oh no@!!!, peed on, heh, by accident. I mean, so what? Its a book, its not a person. I even read that most muslims, or at least the ones who aren't fanatics, don't think its a big deal either.

If you think youre going to get political mileage out of this youre mistaken, cause the overwhelming majority of amercians, democrats and republicans, think its ridiculous too. Its just a book.

4. No, it's not "just a book." You need to study the culture before
making a statement like that.

6. And thats why they still have so many problems
over there and don't progress. They treat one book like it has the answer for everything.

But like I said, alot of muslims, the reasonable ones, know this is making mountains out of molehills. And I know thats the way it seems to just about all americans. They role their eyes when they hear liberals making a big deal out of a book getting wet, or even 'flushed'. So do I, and Im a liberal.

11. I think thats a pretty lousy thing to do if it wasn't by accident.
But I don't see how he would know the Koran would get peed on as well. The person that did that should be punished. But I wouldn't riot and kill people over it.

(Not yet, but I probably have a reservation..:eyes:)

But I would take a guess that the only air vents are through the cell doors.

Anybody know any differnt?:

16. Remember that the "pisser" claimed and it was published as FACT
that this act was INADVERTENT. Sure, check's in the mail. :P

We should hope that those intelligent American people who maintain one ounce of critical thinking skills will see this Pentagon Report itself as absurd.

26. I guess I'm not reasonable....
I can live with that.

I don't know of any "reasonable" Muslims either. All the Muslims I know consider disrespect shown to anyone as wrong, and that includes mistreating something that matters to them.

Downright unreasonable.

As for me, I would be angered by our government's disrespect for ANY religion, urinating on the Baghavad Gita is just as disrespectful, juvinile and uncalled for.

I guess my demand for respect of all peoples and faiths makes me even more unreasonable, eh?

I can live with that.

As for backwardness, perhaps colonization had something to do with that in the Arab world, other Muslim nations aren't quite so backward.

It's strange how Muslims can only be reasonable when they embrace your western standards, which so often seem to lack any principals beyond profit. So backward of them you know, to demand some respect for themselves and their cultures.

Who the hell..........oh wait, I don't want to get in trouble for attacking another poster.

Let me take a breath here.

cause the overwhelming majority of amercians, democrats and republicans, think its ridiculous too. Its just a book.

First of all, the word is BECAUSE.

Second, please show me the poll that backs up your statement.

A book getting stepped on, kicked, getting wet, oh no@!!!, peed on, heh, by accident. I mean, so what?

Why would you want to trivialize something that is so important to a large number of people?

I even read that most muslims, or at least the ones who aren't fanatics, don't think its a big deal either.

You READ?!?!?!

Do you even KNOW any Muslims?

I'm not accusing you, I'm asking you, are you truly a Democrat?
Can you explain to all of us scratching our collective heads at your post, what you think a Democrat stands for.
Maybe you just need some positive reinforcement. I'll be happy to help you.

In the meantime, be tolerant of other peoples belief system.

There is a saying, "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death, your right to say it."

Did you fail to read the part about the detainee getting splashed with urine?

"On March 25, a detainee complained to guards that "urine came through an air vent" and splashed on him and his Quran. A guard admitted he was at fault..."

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050604/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/guantanamo_bay_quran

How would you and your "majority of Americans" feel about a Christian, such as Pat Robertson, James Dobson, Jerry Falwell, or one of their 'faithful' followers getting pissed on or splashed with urine, along with the Bible? Would you or your "majority of Americans" be rolling your or their eyes & saying 'big, deal, so what'? To which "majority of Americans" are you referring... the ones who supposedly voted for Bush? If so, that says a lot about their 'moral values'... or lack thereof.

Speaking as one American, not in the so-called 'majority' that voted for Bush, I am offended by the pissing on or splashing of urine on any person and any holy book, and I find acceptance of such treatment extremely offensive and deeply immoral and inhumane.

And see what that does for your popularity. What the hell, it's just a piece of cloth or a bundle of paper. Oh yeah?

It's that double standard that the morans ascribe to. Mass dumbing down by the newz media, IMO.

23. Piss on the Bible
It's just a book.

Defecate on the Torah - it's just a book.

Hey, the next time the Christian right decides to ban or burn a book, we'll all just say "it's just a book."

And by the way, they're not just pissing on the book - they're pissing on the religion, as symbolized by the book. I'm no muslim but I can't see how that is right or makes any kind of political sense.

5. I noted that Newsweak's Fineman
is blaming the Pentagon exclusively for the government's attack on his magazine. When given the opportunity he refused to say the White House had any blame to share. He attacked the Pentagon's Larry Di Rita but said not a word against his master, little Scottie McClellan. Where is MediaWhoresOnline.com when you need it?
