Before bush & the bushbots, the Geneva Conventions and Purple Hearts
were held in awe by most Americans. They represented the ideals, the standards, of human behaviour America said -still says- America stands for.

That's no longer true.

The rightwingnuts have destroyed both.

Purple Hearts will always be associated now with that gross and disgusting republican orgy of hate, "Purple Heart Bandaids". How can any soldier look at their Purple Heart with pride, after republicans proved you can't bleed enough or lose enough limbs to deserve more than a bandaid.

I myself always held the award of a Purple Heart as something that represented the very highest of sacrifices made by a peson who willingly has put his life between me and my enemies. Now Purple Hearts are something to be mocked and derided for political purposes.

As for the Geneva Conventions, America under bush has violated it, is violating it, so completely and so continously, that the GCs are no longer relevant beyond historical note of what was once good and noble and decent. Americans now justify torture, justify collective punishments, justify the purposeful humiliation and degradation of other human beings, simply for amusement.

I loved you once, America.
