And now the Downing Street Minutes makes it clear what many of us have known all along, manufactured evidence was used to justify the war, lies were told to garner support for their hate and their greed. They took advantage of the love that millions have for our nation and they used our patriotism as a tool, their greedy tool to fill the coffers of the war machines, their tool to justify an illegal and immoral attack on another nation. The men above and 1668 others have given their lifes following orders and believing the lies. They were sent to fight and kill and die believing the lies that they were told by their government, their leaders, our leaders. They are heroes and they are victims.

May they rest in peace and may their families one day find comfort.

3. I guess folks are off on other tangents
and they have other things on their minds. Or, I didn't title the thread in that all important "eye catching" manner.

Thank you for kicking the thread and yes, this is very sad. They died doing what they thought was right, most of their family members believe that they were doing the right thing. Their leaders lied to get them in the hell they died in and continues to lie to the nation today.

5. During the unit memorial service for a soldier, the roll is called
names of all the soldiers are read and one by one they all say "here"...at the end, the name of the dead soldier is read...and by now you're accustomed to hearing "here", so you're expecting it...but this time no "here" follows the soldier's name.....just silence. Nothing but silence. There will be no answer.Ever.Again.

8. 1 of 1670
An honor guard marched toward the hearse. When it reached the automobile, the order, "Present arms" echoed across the National Cemetery. Uniformed soldiers raised their right hands and saluted the flag draped casket.

(snip)

Sgt. Danny Varnado was 23 years old. He had a wife, a son, and a wide assortment of friends. And they all wiped away tears as they thought about the soldier America lost on May 23, and the friend they lost forever.

A tool that has been hacked over by so many incompetent

when is the last time he actually met with a family member? And has he met with any that weren't repuke?

~snip~

Bush also revealed a sensitive side, admitting he's often reduced to tears when he meets families of fallen soldiers.

Bush said "my obligation" to visit family members is the hardest part of his job.

"I'm a crier, and I weep a lot," he acknowledged. "On the other hand, when it's all over, I feel incredibly strengthened by the strength of the parents or the wife or the kids."

28. The numbers tick, tick, tick upwards every day...
and when I see the stories of these INDIVIDUALS (not numbers) who have made the supreme sacrifice for this pack-of-lies war -- sometimes it makes me truly despondent, and other times it makes me so angry.

Today seeing your post, it's angry for some reason. I think it must have been the pic of the soldier in the parking lot. His smile. What a waste!

29. Spc. Barron Remembered

Spc. Barron Remembered As "A Great Hero"

On his final ride through his hometown, Gulfport's fire department blocked intersections -- it's way of saluting a soldier who just died in Iraq. Closer to the National Cemetery, Biloxi daycare center employees stood at attention when the funeral procession rolled past them.

Bryan Barron would have turned 27 next week. Instead of celebrating his birthday, teary eyed family members mourned his death.

"Today we mark the passing of Bryan Edward Barron," Mississippi Adjutant General Harold Cross said, moments after an honor guard escorted Specialist Barron's flag draped casket into Pass Road Baptist Church.

"We ask in the name of you, oh Lord. And we thank you for the great service of our great hero, Specialist Bryan Edward Barron," the Major General said.

WHERE HAVE ALL THE FLOWERS GONE

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?

42. "Too many people have died"

BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, ’n’ how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, ’n’ how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they’re forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, ’n’ how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, ’n’ how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it’s washed to the sea?
Yes, ’n’ how many years can some people exist
Before they’re allowed to be free?
Yes, ’n’ how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn’t see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind,
The answer is blowin’ in the wind.-Dylan
