Support our troops
Buy a gas guzzler and burn all the cheap gas you can so that they may not have died in vain. Its the Republican way.

3. me too!
And i still see them advertised in my area on tv..whats the deal? it is amazing to me that this whole country is so totally oblivious to what is happening. one day i saw a hummer with a yellow support our troops magnet on it...and that is truly insane..and yet for some reason, it must make sense to the hummer owner to have it there...this whole country operates better with head in sand...and great anger to anyone to points out the hypocrisy of their lives..it is really amazing to me.

5. Oblivious? Very true.
And yet I was discussing this with a person from the Vietnam era, probably only 5-10 years older than me, but i don't think he served in the military. He seemed to appreciate the fact that the media doesn't announce anything about the total death and distruction every night on the news. I said, yeah, that's "really nice that we don't have to deal with it", but most people don't realize what this war is costing in human life and injuries.

There is nothing macabre about wanting to keep up with the facts. I find it insensitive and selfish that people don't want to keep up with this.

7. and immoral and irresponsible...
and foolish....and uncaring...dont they even care a little..no!!! Drive my hummer...and put on a sticker...and never give a flying fuck that the war is about my "right" to have a hummer...and to not connect the fact that the war is about my right to drive a hummer...to not care about the future..about their children's future..and to choose to ignore the reality of the part they play in the death and destruction..not only of this war..but the wars to come...and eventual running out of oil altogether...and about the world they leave for their children...maybe it IS time for their god to come down and slap them around for their many sins...and choosing to be ignorant of the harm one does..is no excuse.

10. Great post, Mexico Expat...
It makes me very angry that they are so shortsighted and then choose to ignore reality.

I hope your son gets home soon, safe and sound. I just posted a condolence message to a website for one of our locals who died in Iraq in late April. He was laid to rest about 40 feet from my mom's grave.

11. Well, I spent an evening in redneck land here last night
I took my youngest to go see The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants at a new Showcase Cinemas Du Lux that was built in the more redneck-y part of town (I really hate to stereotype and generalize but anyone in this area will agree.)

There was definitely a much higher % of Ford/GM trucks (not so much in the way of SUVs, though) and these weren't the little ones. These are the bigger F250s and duallies. A few had the B/C '04 or W stickers but, surprisingly, I didn't see that many. I did get quite a few looks and stares at my stickers, though. :)

12. So many stickers around town !
Every other car in the town I live in has the support out troops ribbon ,it is unbelieveable. I live in probably one of the few small cities in Ca. that has so many bush supporters. A town where a small 3 bedroom house will cost you $650,000 plus and has many multi million dollare homes. What I would like is a sticker that says "support our troops ,bring them home alive now !" When the 2000 election fiasco hapen ,every weekend they had organized bush suporters on street corners with pro bush signs bull horns etc. Iam still amazed at the supposely educated people that support this idiot in office. For them the bottom line is ,less taxes for them to pay with their $200,000 a year incomes. I rent a smalll condo in this town and have been living here for eight years, we chose to live here because it has good public schools for our 10 & 8 year old to attend. When I was 15 years old my parents moved here from Chicago ,and purchased a 5 bedroom house in 1972 for $48,000 ,that same 2600sqft home is now selling for close to 1 million $ . How am I and my children going to afford to ever buy a house is just a pie in the sky dream now. Most of the friends I grew up with in this town have moved at least a hour futher out from San Francisco where homes are somewhat more affordable. We chose to spend time being with our children ,then comuting 2 hours every day each way to work ,I did not want to miss seeing them grow up ,since I was 36 years old when I married for the first time , and having a daughter and a son are the best thing thats ever happen to me ,along with the marriage to my wonderful wife. My wifes biggest dream now is home ownership ,and my heart breaks that I cant provide her with answering this dream for her. How it went from my father with 3 young boys and a daughter ,and being only in his mid twenties ,buying their frist house for $17,000 ,to where you cant even buy a new car for that price ,Sure incomes have gone up ,however it has not kept up with cost of living. Iam watching the middle class disappear B/4 my very eyes ! HELP !!!!
Thank You to All that read This ,Bless You, Nick
