The new Alan Colmes?
Many of us may regard Alan Colmes as Mr. Milquetoast.

But he hasn't necessarily been that way, recently.

He stood up to Ann Coulter, he got Neil Horsely to admit beastiality, and he got Matt Drudge to admit that his only evidence of the Left cheering the Pentagon admitting Koran abuse is instant messages.

The latest (Matt Drudge) is at Crooks and Liars:

1. He is okay to an extent
He would be decent if he was labeled as a moderate (he is clearly not a right-winger, but on the other hand, I would go as far as to call him a liberal either). I'll admit that I've never actually heard his radio show though. Now if he would actually stand against the crap that Hannity spews on the tv show (which is something Fox News probably wouldn't allow...), then I might even start to like him.

2. Our problem isn't with Colmes ...
... it is with the fact that he is presented as being liberal, representing the liberal point of view.

5. why oh why wont Colmes do something with his hair and clothes
oh, I know, it's being sexist... but the visuals are sooo bad next to Hannity. Hannity looks smooth; Colmes looks dweeby.

6. Because that's part of his nerdy, weak-jawed liberal costume...
it's all part of his Faux gig. The ham-faced Hannity is not good looking. He only comes off better looking in comparison to Colmes.

20. No kidding. The liberals I know are longshoremen and laborers of
various sorts. Put one of us next to Hannity.

It always makes me laugh to see these preening, pampered, daddy's boys playing "Republican Tough Guy".

22. Ham faced
is right! Do people seriously think he's good looking? Yuck. :-( Not my type, but even when men aren't my type I can usually see how others might think so. Not with this guy. He looks like he's overweight.

13. That's their whole point I think at fox
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 05:05 PM by FreedomAngel82
They want to show that the only people who are really democratic are nerdy and show that if you go up against a democrat they won't be tough and firm and all that. But the democratic party has so many good looking men. Even the older men are good looking. It's being a sterotype. Hannity is smooth and I guess can be seen as goodlooking and is a republican. But basically I think they're trying to show their viewers that all democrats are like Colmes. They also have him on their network to appear "fair and balanced." Hope you all get what I'm saying.

12. And I wonder
if he was really a liberal and democrat how could he put up with Hannity's shit? If that was me in his position I would've walked out on the first day. What's up with that?? I did like when he asked Coulter to defend her statement that all democrats were liars and asked if she was calling him a liar.

3. He receives a paycheck labeled "FoxNews..."
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 12:09 PM by Cooley Hurd
...therefore he is part of the problem, NOT part of any solution. If he were to announce, LIVE on Hannity & Colmes, "Fox News is propaganda and I refuse to be party to it anymore," I'd reconsider. However, as long as he appears on that cancer of journalism known as "FauxNews," he is an asshole...

8. Drudge is such a low-life POS
notice he couldn't provide ONE, not ONE example to back up his claim that the left was celebrating someone pissing on the Koran?

He needs to be sent to GITMO.

Just for being a prick.

Here's a recent photograph:

Amazing what contact lenses, a shave, and a haircut will do.

Robert Mitchum is like a God to me. He is my favorite actor of all time. He could play a good guy, a bad guy, a funny guy, a tough guy... and always make you believe it 100%. They just don't make actors like that today. No one comes close.

ON EDIT: Kurt Russell, maybe.

17. I cracked up laughing...
I assumed you asked yourself, "Hmmm...who is the complete polar opposite of Colmes?" And, of course, the answer IS Big Bob :)

You may want to weigh in on a discussion that a friend and I were having last night. Who would have won in a fight between Mitchum and Lawrence Tierney? We couldn't decide. However, my wife thinks that Tierney would have won. Her reasoning being that Mitchum (despite his willingness to brawl) just didn't give a damn, whereas Tierney really was a mean and vicious sonofabitch. That type can be relentless and very dangerous.

And, of course you are also right about no one today coming close to Mitchum.

18. I hate to say it, but I agree with your wife
Tierney was a crazy SOB who was constantly brawling and fighting. I actually think he was thrown in an actual mental hospital a couple of times. As tough and cool as Big Bob was, you just can't compete with a psycho like that. Bob was a tough guy, but he wasn't crazy.

Now, on the other hand, on the overall coolness meter, Tierney can in no way compete with Mitchum. He's not even in the same league.

19. He's not really much different.
Still is, as far as I can tell Sean Hannity's rubber stamp toy. His booby prize who he can smack around, in the real sense.
