A simple question for reporters to ask at the next BushShow.
I have yet to hear it asked by anyone.

"What have the people of America gained by the invasion of Iraq? Please be specific."

1. But...but...freedom is on the march
ALL OVER THE WORLD! :sarcasm:
In reality, the sheeple have been convinced that we're all safe from terra because a war is going on 'over there' instead of here. Nevermind any common sense...

2. I'd just like to see him try to answer the question.
That's why I said, "Please be specific."

Grand rhetoric about "freedom", "democracy", "fighting terrorism", all have a nice ring to the mindless, but I'd like to see him pressed about the actual benefits to the American people accrued by the invasion and occupation.

I can think of none. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

Nor can I think of anyone who could give a positive answer to that question that should be asked by every decent reporter or politician.

Quibbling about "how the war has been handled", or getting into the morality of it, or if it has benefited the Iraqis, is open to distortion and obfuscation with "patriotic" nonsense about "supporting our troops" and "spreading democracy".

We need to pin the bastard down to what the American people are getting for their money and the blood of their kids.

We need to have "common sense" injected into the debate. Common sense that even the most apathetic of the American people can understand.

Or, maybe we should get "our" politicians to ask the American people the same question. "What have YOU gained from the invasion and occupation of Iraq? Please be specific."

3. They don't give a shit about anything other than their co boxes.
They have left the USA behind. They are melted into the new age corporacrat fascism.

They left their humanity behind years ago.

Don't bother.

They won't FEEL being human until the country nearly falls apart.

They don't give a shit that the corporacrat global fascists are repealing an entire century of progress 'cause,...they have no human substance.

Don't waste your time or breath on these people. They sold their souls long ago and the only ones who can revive them,....are themselves.

4. We have gained: (in my opinion)
Fear from intelligent, educated folks worldwide that America is repeating history, one that became WWII
I hope WE (the people) have gained:
A valuable lesson that yes, Martha, what happened to Germany, can happen to us.
I hope WE (America) can mend those international broken fences.
A good start would be to allow an independent International Tribunal to examine charges of crimes against humanity currently leveled against us. www.mindfully.org/Reform/2004/Afghanistan-Criminal-Tribunal10mar04.htm
Another good start would be to acknowledge that our military used WMD. in the form of depleted Uranium munitions. www.mindfully.org/Nucs/2004/DU-Trojan-Horse1jul04.htm
then we spend the billions needed to clean up that mess.
The first steps to this in my opinion can only happen when we have an informed electorate. That can not happen until the press can regain its freedom to report the news OBJECTIVELY, if it wishes to do so.
