Ann Coulter supports the murdureous tyrant Augusto Pinochet
Ann Coulter's latest bullshit Article praises the former Leader of Chile, Augusto Pinochet. In her article she calls him the "great Augusto Pinochet". Yeah he was a swell guy alright. Pinochet ran one of the single most brutal dictatorships in the history of Central America. Pinochet was responsible for the deaths of thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women, and children. One of the things he liked to do (according to Amnesty International) was view video tapes of young girls being tortured. Girls as young as 11 years old were raped, sodomized, and then an electric cattle prod was used on thier genitals. Apparently Ann Coulter is such a pathetic piece of shit, that she approves of the man who ran this regime. Coulter is filth pure and simple, she should be locked in a cell for the rest of her life and left to rot.

1. You are kidding. Right?
Link, please. I can't believe that. Even Coulter has limits. Give us proof.

4. I am starting to think...
that Coulter says things strictly for shock value. She's laughing all the way to the bank, after all, who else could get away with saying we should "repeal the emancipation proclamation"? She's sick.

:puke:

2. Pinochet probably caused the deaths of...
...as many people as the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01 did. I seem to recall that figure in press discussions of the coup in Chile.

By the way, if you have a link to Ms. Apologist for Evil, please post it. It would be DELIGHTFUL to her just how morally disgusting she is, in every regard, by the use of e-mail.

13. 9/11/73 Santiago de Chile Salvdore Allende, President of the oldest
democracy in South America-overthrown on 9/11. You'll excuse them if they don't fall all over themselves with grief for the wtc. At least as many were murdered by the Junta.

3. There is something seriously wrong with Ann Coulter!
I sincerely mean this...Perhaps she should be pitied. No one with a sane mind could believe the things she does...about Senator Joe McCarthy for instance....She needs psychiatric help...

6. Are you sure she believes these things?
It's my very uninformed impression that she might just be saying them. It certainly earns her a lot of $$$.

Did you read Franken's book?
Every time he tells a story that mentions Ann Coulter, it ends with someone saying "There's something wrong with her," or "What do you think is wrong with her?" One guy said, "We've been taking bets in the office about what is wrong with her."

It's funny. He gives her the derision she deserves.

5. she only learned of Pinochet/Allende recently
Edited on Sun Sep-21-03 01:56 PM by dani
Look at this article from the Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,957670,00.html

What about Chile, where they elected Allende and America said, in effect, "You can't have Allende"?
Coulter is looking blank: "Who was elected by a free and open democracy in Chile?" Allende, I repeat. "I don't know enough about that to speak to it. But sometimes there are bigger fish to fry. The worldwide threat of communism was a bigger one."

9. So-called conservatives have been Pinochet defenders for years.
Dig around a bit and you'll find evidence for that. I recall, for example, that the Buffalo News ran an column by Phyllis Schlafly (yes, her) proclaiming that Pinochet wasn't that bad.

From what I can tell, the defenders justify this position by mentioning Chile's capitalist system (You knew this would ultimately be about money, right?) and by the fact that he's right-wing, not left-wing. And don't forget the part the Nixon administration played in the coup.

At any rate, if Ann Coulter is defending Pinochet, she won't be much different from her fellow right-wing pundits, and she certainly won't be breaking new ground. Besides, she's been going around defending MCCARTHYISM and lying about liberals' patriotism. You think she has any shred of decency?

11. Maggie Thatcher loves this guy
Made some comment about what a charming fellow he was, and how she loved having tea with him.

We need no more proof than this that the right is morally bankrupt.

Ann Coulter is not funny, she is not a joke, and she is not just some nut case. Her views are very very sinister. The airing she gets in the media is a very bad sign.

She is the equivalent of the fin de siecle Austrian politicians, who pandered to popular anti-semitism to get elected, creating a monster who decades later destroyed Europe.

She is a sign of something very bad coming down the pipe. She should be placed in the same category of pariah as the Ku Klux Klan and the neo-nazis.

14. No, but my mother's side of my family lived in Chile and had friends and
relatives die in Pinochet's colisseum massacres, so for me, this shit is personal. I hope Coulter gets ovarian cancer (if she IS a woman, after all) if this is true.

Calling him a "great American" or something? The woman is either a true fascist or she's such a media whore that she doesn't mind praising evil acts to get her mug on television.
